We'll ship you a replacement device (same or newer model depending on availability). You'll also receive a pre-paid shipping label to send your damaged device back to us (must have a valid credit card on file in order to receive a replacement).




Return your damaged device within 30 days from reception (otherwise you will be charged the price of the replacement).


Things to know:

  • Upon purchase, you'll receive an e-mail. This will be your official purchase confirmation. To give you the best customer experience possible, SquareTrade may also contact you about your purchase by telephone.
  • Please read the Terms and Conditions (see the link at the bottom of the page).
  • Start Date: Plan begins on the date your device is delivered, or on the plan purchase date if you already have your device and are purchasing a plan within 30 days of device purchase, and is inclusive of the manufacturer's warranty period. There are a lot of 1 star reviews here, which are depressing the overall score. Now, I don't want to be mean, but sometimes you just gotta be mean to be fair.

At the time of this writing, all of the 1-star reviewers are, how can I say this without Amazon refusing to publish this review . . . unpersuasive.

None of them address how SquareTrade is to deal with when you actually have a claim. They are all by people who either didn't read about what they were buying or didn't comprehend what they were reading or who just wandered in to complain about something else. Other reviews say that SquareTrade is good to deal with when you actually have a claim.

Last summer, for my wife's birthday, I simultaneously bought an Oasis and the SquareTrade three year extended warranty, even though her old Kindle was still going strong. Her Kindle is old and big and has an even bigger cover and when she falls asleep reading, it bonks her on the head and wakes her up.

At that time, Kindle Oases were in short supply and there were all kinds of snafus with the order, which gave SquareTrade the right according to contract to not honor their extended warranty. I didn't notice this might be a problem for 6 months. I was dreading calling SquareTrade in December to cajole them into doing the right thing about something that happened in June.

I was off the phone in 10 minutes, including hold time, with no legalistic attitude about, sorry, sir, our contract states . . . and with great customer service attitude. They asked me for some information, looked it up, said, yep, we get it, you're linked now and good to go.

So, I haven't actually filed a claim yet, but I'm pretty optimistic about how it will go if I need to.Read more ›

Kindle has not been shipped till September 19, 2016 and the date has started on the policy. I thought it was three years beyond the one year that Amazon provided. By buying three years, the policy as presented on the email says that all aspects of the policy expire in three years. Unless I receive some communication from Square Trade, I will call to cancel.

I think it is better to be protected than not. Just because you are careful doesn't mean that the unimaginable can't happen. It may not be something that you did caused the problem. If you want to protect your investment this, I feel, is the best way.

I also bought this on my last Kindle. When I had a problem with my Kindle, they handled it ASAP. I was without a Kindle for a day and a half. I was very impressed that it was handled so fast.

Like many others, I cancelled the warranty because square trade started my two years from the date of purchase even though I have to wait over a month to receive the device because it was on back order. Now I can no longer get the warranty because I purchased the device more than 30 days ago even though it has only been in my possession for a few days.
