"This book is the author's first and is well-written with in depth statistics and accompanying photographs. A third of the book is devoted to fascinating race reports which include sets of results. The highlight of the book is the detailed account of each marque of racing car and its developments during the period of its competition history. This section uses original photographs and cut-away drawings to keep the reader interested and offers a comprehensive detailed account of these beautiful racing cars. The book is well worth checking out if you have an interest in this period of Formula One racing."

There are chapters detailing each year's racing, sections on leading drivers and circuits, and expertly written technical coverage of all the chassis and engines. Abundant photographs, cut-away diagrams and stats add to this book's usefulness."

This book does a great job highlighting the issues behind the new formula, the major and minor players in engine, chassis, tire construction and the drivers.
As someone who grew up during this period, I was not aware of the great number of engines, chassis, builders, sponsors, drivers, circuits etc who participated. A younger person will really appreciate the diversity and technical complexity that involved and drove the formula. Virtually every engine, chassis, builder, circuit is discussed to the degree that knowledge exists.
In addition book by itself is really very comprehensive, very well structured and responsive to my questions that were related to almost unknown single-seater.
It's a big value to me this purchase from Amazon.
I just wish more books on F1 and racing in general were written with such passion and insight
