W. Morohoshi says:
If you ordered Killzone 3 before the $20 pre-order credit offer started do you also get the credit? Is it cover under there Pre-order price guarantee?

I was wondering the same thing, I might just cancel

Sometimes they specify that promotion applies to existing pre-orders, which is very clear. 'Course the question is still asked. But when that is not specified, I can understand people being wary.

Really, Amazon should just say straight out "game credit for new and existing pre-orders"

Posted on Feb 17, 2011, 9:03:30 PM PST
In all cases that I've seen, Amazon has applied new promotions to pre-orders. I'll still drop an e-mail to Customer Service though, to avoid being unpleasantly surprised.

Stephen says:
I've always received credit even if I pre-ordered before the promotion was offered. I've always assumed it was part of the pre-order price guarantee which states we'll get the lowest price. In turn, that would also include promotions from what I've been told by Amazon customer care a while ago.

KetchupThief says:
quick question, how long will this promotion credit last?

Aslam Jilani says:
i hope i get it, i cant cancel because i used previous gift credit on the order :/

Stephen says:

It's tough to say but the promotions are usually removed on the day of launch or the day after. At times, smaller credits (such as Marvel vs Capcom 3 with a $10) will show a little bit longer.

Stephen says:
Aslam Jilani, were these credits from a gift card balance or from a previous purchase that gave you a credit? A credit from a previous purchase has an expiration date so those you need to be careful with. Although Amazon would probably rectify the issue it's better to not deal with it. If you used a gift balance than a cancellation of the order will instantly put the credit back into your account. But as I said earlier, there is no need to cancel. You'll get the credit.

KetchupThief says:
Im asking the "20 dollar promotion credit", not the promotion.
there's no game I want to buy between killzone and twisted metal(end of the year)
I just want to know, in general, how long will the promoton credit expire, like a month? year?

Posted on Feb 17, 2011, 9:58:12 PM PST
Brisco says:
I think he's asking if it expires.

Yes, they usually do expire in about 3-4 months, I think? I had one expire, but called emailed customer service and they gave me a new credit. But you can use it right away on a pre-order.

Stephen says:
CallMe911, you have around 1 year to use a promotional credit. These credits used to last about 4 months but every credit I've received in the past 6 months have had about a year on them. However, you can pre-order one of those games you mentioned as soon as the credit comes through and apply it to that order. While there is an expiration date for that promotional credit, if it's locked in on an order, it'll still be valid. You just need to lock the promotion up in an order before the expiration. The order that includes the promotion can ship even after it's expiration date so long as it's locked in.

H. Davis says:
The credit does apply to preorders done before it was announced. Amazon should still be more open about that part, though.

Here's the response i received when i asked about getting the $20 bonus.

We appreciate the time you have taken to bring this to our attention.

I've checked this offer on our website and can see there's a $20 Credit Plus Exclusive KillZone 3 Pre-Order Bonus. I'd love to help yet inorder to take advantage of this promotion, you must place the order during the specified promotion period while supplies last. Since you placed this order last February 4, 2011 and by that time it's not yet offered, I'd suggest to place a new order. You have not been charged for this order as we only charge when the order enters the shipping process.

Yes, you can still cancel your order. Please go to the URL below and click the "Need to cancel an item?" button:

The Credit is a Preorder credit...so once the game is "released" the credit usually is no longer for an order placed AFTER the release. I am guessing its a perk for preordering, which helps Amazon know how many units they will be moving on launch day. As far as the actual $20 credit...I am not sure how long it lasts in your account, but I do know there are some games in march I am looking forward to using it on.

I think this makes it official. Looks like they added "This offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders." in the description. :)

Will this offer go all the way up to Monday? The only reason I ask is that I am pretty sure I am getting an amazon.com gift certificate on Sunday for my birthday and would like to wait until then to order, but I really don't want to lose the $20 credit either.
