Syracuse defeated Oklahoma by a score of 63-47. The Orangemen were the third seed in the East region, while the Sooners were the top seed. Oklahoma was coached by Kelvin Sampson and Syracuse was coached by Jim Boeheim. Many thought the game would be closer, but Syracuse played tight zone defense throughout and never let the Sooners get into the game. Syracuse was led by Carmelo Anthony, who scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Syracuse went on to win the national title.
