The purpose of this cookbook is to flawlessly combine: fantastic must-read books, delicious can't-wait-to-try recipes, and some enthusiastic opinions that taunt the reader to delve deeper. Personally, the only thing I like better than reading is eating, and to see all these recipes that compliment my favorite books is sheer perfection!

The book choices: I really like that almost all of the teen books that were chosen are familiar titles to me. The fact that many are books that I have read and loved really makes me anticipate all the other books listed even more. Though I am less familiar with the middle grade and adult books mentioned, I can still make the recipes even if the books don't turn out to be my thing!

The recipes: I LOVE all the recipes that are presented in this cookbook. Seriously, I want to eat them all RIGHT NOW. I am pleasantly surprised to find that this cookbook contains more than one different type of dish. It doesn't just have frou-frou deserts or only appetizers. No. This cookbook has a variety of different delectables ranging from ribs, to cakes, to bubble tea. The other thing I like about the 2012 Book Blogger Cookbook is the layout and presentation of each section which is especially helpful for the books I have already read. The recipes aren't just randomly thrown together. For each recipe/book combination there is an explaination as to why they fit together. This really makes them seem that much more enticing.

The bloggers: Having direct quotes from bloggers for each individual book is honestly a really good idea. It really helps bridge the gap between author and reviewer, as well as provides some great new authors and bloggers that I can stalk!

Christy's cookbooks are always fun because they combine two wonderfully delicious past times: reading and eating. I love the fun recipes, but I especially love finding great new books to read and new-to-me blogs to explore. This cookbook can be enjoyed by anyone who loves to read or cook, but especially by those who love both!

My Review

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge Christy Dorrity and her magical mystery tour...of books and food that is! As a fellow writer who cannot decide whether to write books or blog about food, I understand a little of what makes this woman tick.

I first came across her blog when I found the boba tea (that's bubble tea to you) recipe that she'd proposed for Matched by Ally Condie. I have to say that I was hooked. What a perfect recipe for this book, and what a wonderful idea to pair a creative recipe with a story you love.

Christy includes a really nice variety of ya stories as well as a selection of middle grade as well. Each is summarized along with impressions from more well-known book bloggers who've reviewed the titles. Finally, in her personal coup de gras, Christy offers a unique and delicious recipe to go with each one.

As someone who is gluten-sensitive, sadly, I cannot partake of some of her most amazing offerings, her desserts. BUT, there are plenty of tasty entrees, snacks, soups, and more! I have been cooking quite a lot these past ten years and I've learned my way around a wide variety of recipes. I can tell you that Christy's are truly excellent and I look forward to making several of her dishes. My first will be the Dauntless Chicken Skewers. (I may have to make a Divergent burger of my own in celebration of this book!)

If you love books and you love food, the 2012 Book Blogger's Cookbook is a no-brainer. Especially at just $0.99 for the Kindle edition!

I've never seen anything like this. It is a blog, a book synopsis, and a cookbook with the recipes being based on the book being reviewed. While I think the recipes look good for the most part, the books being reviewed are a bit too out there for my taste. Most are a combo of science fiction or supernatural along with romance. I think this is an interesting idea for a book but I am not a fan.

It's here! The 2012 Book Blogger's Cookbook. I'd have to say that this was one of my favorite cookbooks to read. I loved to see the books that were picked, the summaries of each were helpful, especially for those that I haven't read. I thought the recipes were creative. There were several that I am going to have to make time to try especially the Beignet Chess Squares, Lumba Berry Pie and Modern Day Rootbeer Cookies! I also enjoyed reading the comments about each book from fellow bloggers. This fun cookbook will make you want to start cooking and reading!

The 2012 Book Blogger's Cookbook is filled with delicious, and easy-to-make recipes, from desserts to drinks to entreés. Also featured are a whole bunch of Young Adult books with their blurbs, and then notes from blogger's in our own book blogging community (my blog is featured with "Starcrossed" by Josephine Angelini).

I'd definitely recommend this book to others. Christy has done a great job in compiling it, and I think it's going to be a useful tome.

My only complaint, so far, is that it's only available as an eBook, right now. I would prefer a bound copy so that I can take it to my kitchen and cook up some of the mouthwatering recipes inside.
