IMHO the posters alone are worth the price of this item even if you aren't interested in a calendar. Incidentally, the actual calendar aspect of this item isn't all that great -- beautiful to look at, surely, but printed rather small (and not really for writing on) compared to a normal full size calendar. Also, note that there are no holes for hanging so you will need poster tack or similar.
One issue with this item: the packaging is horrible. Looks nice, but that's about it. Imagine rolling up a poster all neatly, then squishing it down a bit so it is rolled into an oblong shape with slightly flattened sides. Yes, that is how they packaged these lovely scrolls, so I suggest taking them all out of the box asap. Mine have a "wavy" look fresh out of the box, though after some time hanging on my cabinet (it is metal, so I hang them with strong magnets) they are smoothing out.
I'm a collector of Tolkieniana, and not a big fan of the Hobbit movie. I picked up a few of the more unusual Lord of the Rings film calendars, and thought I'd do the same for The Hobbit (these were significant events, after all), but I'm sorry to have chosen this one. It comes in a thin, partially printed clear plastic box, which cracks and breaks easily. I ordered one direct from Amazon, and a second from a marketplace seller who advertised careful packaging after the first arrived badly broken. Both boxes arrived completely split down one or more sides, with multiple long cracks branching off from the main break (that will undoubtedly eventually spawn large chips), so I'm done trying to order it by mail. And, the original box will likely be a storage nightmare, and become yet more brittle as time passes, so if I had it to do over... I doubt if I'd even buy a perfect copy from a brick-and-mortar store.
Movie fans, go for it!
Collectors... I'd say pass.
