I had migraine headaches for a week after I started from giving up coffee. I finally had to go back and drink a cup a day. Next time I'll wean myself off caffeine before beginning the program.
After less than 2 weeks I am cheating already. Mainly because there isn't enough variety in the diet. There are lots of recipes I can try that are included, but the money it would take to buy everything is more than my budget will allow. I spent over $200 on supplements and food when I began. Every recipe I tried I liked, even the Kitchari, and I don't like beans.
I will recommend this program to family and friends, with the warning that it is not an easy diet, but it is worth it to feel better. I no longer suffer from the fatigue that would send me to bed in the middle of the day, and I don't have heartburn when I lay down. My tight clothes now fit. In the book, Dr Bhatia mentions a white coating on the tongue that indicates a bad gut. I had that when I started. I think I still have it, but it is nearly gone.
Even though I 'failed' to complete the 21-day program, I can see that the diet has improved my health already. I'm going to continue to eat some of the food she recommends and plan to do this again, with better preparation.
Some may think the problems I had should lower the amount of stars that I gave this book. The program works. Period. Every hassle I encountered was worth it to gain my health.
Recipes were easy to follow and tasty! I did initially have trouble finding some of the ingredients in my grocery store and ended up having to purchase from amazon. I would recommend looking through the book for the ingredients before you begin the diet, so you can be sure to have everything you need!
Cons of the diet was that it was very austere and not very flexible. I was thankful when I was finished!!!! LOL. Would like to try it again but, oh my the first four days are tough. I will say that have incorporated some of the recouped into my regular diet!

I have elected to follow this 21 day belly fix regime, although I have no health issues, I am interested to see how this affects my overall physical appearance.
This is the end of my 1st day, and I feel lighter, as I have eliminated milk from my daily smoothies. I shall persever, and update this review regarding my weekly progress.
Happy to recommend this book to anyone who is interested in maintaining a healthy, happy gut.
More importantly for my wife, I have begun to cook for the first time in 27 years!
Thank you Dr Tas!! One day, I will come to the US and thank you in person.
This is not a 21-day-starve-yourself fad diet. Indeed, it is not a fad diet at all. It offers a jump start to a way of life that promises good gastric health, with weight loss as a happy side effect. The first three days are designed to rest the gut, but, again, you do not starve. You have apple cider vinegar, ginger tea, brown rice cakes, healthy oils, fruit smoothies, green drinks, and steamed or sautéed veggies. After three days, you add a rice serving, and later some meat broths and lean meats. Looks very sensible, healthy, and most importantly, DO-ABLE, Specific instructions are provided for amounts and preparation of foods.
I am happy to recommend this book for anyone interested in health. Even if you don't need to lose weight, the plan is sure to bring about better gastric health, which may even lead to less cancer, better cognitive functioning, healthy elimination, better skin, and the list goes on. I personally am looking forward to less flatulence from the hubby, lol!
