21 Days to Happiness is a self help book that actually helps readers. Sometimes, a self help book offers a lot of recommendations--but, leaves readers adrift in the actual incorporation of the advice into their real-world lives. This book is a wonderful self help resource that actually offers readers a section of tools to help them help themselves in each of the areas of life presented. I loved the mix of media (apps, videos, web links and music ideas) the author offers readers for use in each section. Readers are able to learn a tip and then actually find additional, valuable resources to help them use those tips.
Would I recommend 21 Days to Happiness by Ingrid Kelada? While I have read many of the happiness focused tips presented in this book before--this is the first book that actually made the process an interactive one with tools and support. This book actually makes the daily steps to happiness seem reasonable and doable. If you are looking to make changes to your life; this book would make a wonderful starting point. It is easy to read, loaded with information, resources and workbook pages for reflection on each day's presentation. This is a book that you could work through again and again as you develop the habits of happiness.
I received a copy of this book from the author or publisher for use in a blog review. All opinions are my own.
What I love most about Ingrid’s book is that it provides concrete tools and strategies for me to apply in those situations when I start to get into a negative head space. I think that I am a pretty positive person overall but there are times when I feel like everything and everyone is working against me. That’s when I grab Ingrid’s book and apply an exercise or too to change my frame of mind. I am a big believer in an attitude of gratitude and that appreciation and feeling thankful helps to create a sense of joy and fulfillment. I was happy to see in her book that she suggests listing things that we are grateful for. I have been doing this nightly with my family for a few months now before bedtime. We all take turns saying what we are grateful for, for that day. Even if one of us had a bad day, we can always find at least one thing that we are thankful for.
The book is presented in straightforward and well thought out format. Each chapter looks at provides information, tips and resources to help you learn to deal with distractions and focus on your own mental and physical well being. It is broken down into manageable sections so that you can work on your own happiness a bit at a time. It is a great read for everyone – from students to CEOs.
So how do you find happiness? How do you change the way you live and work to encourage enjoyment? 21 Days to Happiness seeks to increase your happiness, productivity and energy. Through a series of chapters, twenty-one to be exact, the author steps you through methods that can boost your happiness. While the impact may be life changing most of these changes require very simple little changes to the way you act, think and feel.
Each chapter focuses on a relatively easy change. The author provides concrete steps that help you focus your energy on those things that are truly important in life, rather than the rat race we think is so important.
By refocusing your energy on items like music, gratitude, dietary changes, breathing and sleep you can change how happy you feel.
