About the Author
Jenny Peters is one part of the sister duo responsible for 21 Songs in 6 Days. She stumbled upon the ukulele after finding 45 of them in one of her elementary school classrooms. Convinced she could turn her find into more than a whole lot of noise, she designed a program to teach all of her students to play successfully with only 30 minutes of class time a week. No one was more grateful than the teacher in the next classroom. A former private piano teacher in Chicago with a Masters in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois, Jenny now lives in Highland Park. Married with three kids, she shares her home with three cats and more musical instruments than she would care to name. Rebecca Bogart is the second half of the sister writing team. An acclaimed classical pianist, performer and teacher, Rebecca has been passionate about the piano and music her entire life. She has played for audiences in Italy, taught master classes at Harvard and won more than a few piano competitions. She made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall in early 2014. came out of my bucket list to do before it's too late! What with stiff fingers with arthritis and fat fingers, I
really thought I would never last through the beginning stages. However, I found that with an ounce of tenacity
and looking forward to playing something I could sing with, I opened your uke book and began. I was delighted
to my satisfaction to learn chords on an immediate bases and was able to sing a simple tune before my fingers
gave in for the first lesson! This is "amazing" as you kids say, and it truly is. I like adding one thing at a time
and using a beginners book that is easy to read with a warm, light conversational style.

I really liked the fact that you could either view the music sheets online or in the book. I do not currently have a music stand and being able to see the song on my laptop was sort of nice.
The chord changes are color coordinated, which makes it easier to know which chord to play. I may start using a sharpie to highlight my chord changes in other books from now on.
The videos are helpful for getting an idea of how quickly/slowly to strum a song
The songs start off extremely easy, which enabled me to gain some confidence regarding my own abilities. This way I did not get disappointed along the way and quit.
Some of the video/sound clips don't work.
The lady who does the singing/playing is a good player, however she is a very technical singer. I think that it might be more helpful to have someone sing who seems like they are actually enjoying playing the songs.
A lot of the songs are probably a bit old for my generation. You have songs like "Row Row Row Your Boat," but then you also have songs like "Red River Valley." I think that there could have been pieces of some newer songs included as well so that it would appeal to a wider range of people.
Overall, this book did do what it promised, and it has helped me to begin my journey of learning how to play the ukulele. However, I do think that some things could be better.
Polly wolly doodle all the day??
Are you sleeping?
Three Blind Mice?
Shoo fly, don't bother me?
He's got the whole world ( in his hands)
of course you can learn these very simple children's songs in 6 days...
For those of you that would enjoy playing these songs, this book is a good place to get started, I however am a beginner and feel that this book will be behind me in 10 minutes.
