The directions could definitely be better, too, unless, like the other reviewer mentioned, you happen to have a very short screw driver (probably no bigger than 3.5"). If you do happen to get this coffee table, the problems could be easily remedied by screwing the hinges onto the baseboard of the table BEFORE flipping the baseboard over and affixing it to the other compartments (that will hopefully make more sense once you're actually assembling it). There is another problem spot with the directions, but that's harder to explain but actually easier to fix, so I'll just tell you to be on the lookout.
The cool little cubbyhole is actually not as cool as I was hoping--it's just kind of impractical because you really only have easy access to the first 6-7 inches of the compartment, after that it's a bit of a black hole and likely to lose misplace stuff back there.
Personally, I would look elsewhere, but it's not terrible if you have your heart set on the design. (It's also a bit short for my tastes, but they have the dimensions right there, so can't blame them for that.)
The glass top is thin. It should support typical items like cups and plates, but I would not recommend resting your feet on it or placing too many books on top. The glass is held at four points. Beveled edge across the width of the table would have been better.
We are currently looking for another table to replace this one that is sturdier and better quality. Seriously, you'd be better off buying a table at Ik*a than this one!
