This was a Christmas gift for my ham radio hubby. IT's hard to find something cool for a 'ham' when you don't know a watt from a volt. (Oh whatever! Hey! I gave up my music room so he could have a ham radio room! And I have a big tower in my front yard! ) I've already purchased several other ham radio related items from Amazon for him but, this was a big hit! It's up to date and nicely colored. He was very pleased--and that's sayin' something.

Mine came in a tube that was crushed in transit but the seller sent me a free replacement. The damaged one is now mounted on poster board as an educational tool that goes with me on portable ops. When people wander by I show them on the map the location of the stations I'm talking to at the time. The waterproof paper is much appreciated in this outdoor use. The replacement map is a must-have reference on my hamshack wall. My only suggestion for improvement is to increase the size. Most of us hams are of an age where larger print would be very helpful.

I was really looking forward to this for the shack given the reviews. I did read a couple of reviews saying it came damaged, but figured it was due to the shipping process. Mine came in a poster tube, which amazon then packaged into a much larger box with paper inserts, so I figured - "this is great, mines got to be pristine"! Upon opening the tube I immediately noticed one of the top corners was slightly torn as well as the side bent. While the poster "image/print" itself was decent quality and something I would've been proud to display on the shack wall - the paper itself certainly isn't high quality like I expected for $26. Unfortunately, I sent mine back. If you do decide to keep yours, you may consider having something to either glue it to, laminate it, or put it in a frame.

This map shows what's needed for the amateur radio operator. My gripe is that the paper is of low quality. Either the paper is decades old, or there was a manufacturing flaw in its production. It tears extremely easy and it has yellowed, likely from age. Please look elsewhere for this kind of product. KD2GTW
