Prime Lens Advantages
Prime lenses are typically sharper, lighter, and can work in lower lighting conditions than zoom lenses.
Less compromises are involved when a lens can be designed for optimal performance for a specific focal length.
They don't have to overcome all of the additional problems encountered with the extra glass and mechanics required to zoom.
With their typically faster (wider) maximum apertures and fewer lens elements, primes can also gather and pass through more light.
As a result, even in poor lighting conditions, you can generally get better quality images and videos.
Additionally, due to their smaller size and weight, they are perfect for travel, and stealthy street shooting.
Samyang 8mm F3.5 HD Fisheye Lens
Fixed focal length lenses generally have smaller number of elements inside and no moving elements (except for focus, of course).
High Performance Primes are significantly smaller in size, thus more suitable for traveling and packing. And since they are smaller, they tend to weigh less, thus they wear you down less.

Top reviews from other countries
I would have liked the "Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM Lens", but for at least £720, even for a used one, it was more than I could justify for my hobby.
Unlike the three Canon IS STM zoom lenses I have, 10-18mm, 18-135 and 70-300mm, there is no autofocus or stabilisation on this, but they are hardly necessary with such a lens.
I am still getting used to it, particularly the exposure control, with the manual aperture. I find a good setting is F8, focused midway between 1.5m and infinity, with the camera set to AE or Av.
I suppose this is more about artistic effect that technical precision and it provides an interesting effect.
The pictures compare this fisheye with the 10mm wide angle
Great low price solution for extreme sports enthusiasts, or for photographers who just want a fun lens to use out and about. I've used mine at expos and for filming skaters in the past, and it works great for both.
Joy of it being rectangular fisheye is it offers the huge width you expect, without the "stretching" you'd find in - say a Sigma 10-20mm. It offers a nice curved view of the world - and as I said, I basically bought this twice as my first when bye-bye!
It is very solid, well made and simple to use, the detachable hood is a bonus over the older model and the price is superb.
This lens opens up a whole new world of photography, buy it!
