Turn your computer into a pinball machine with 3-D Ultra Pinball: Thrill Ride. There are 15 different amusement park rides, including two minitables and Nighttime Fantasy. Three levels of play allow you to simulate authentic pinball or defy the laws of physics. Multiball action and interactive animations are just some of the features. Up to four players can get in on the action. When you are finished, post and compare high scores over the Internet.

There is only one main table but by winning at the various special rides you get when hitting certain combinations in the game you can then access further "events". The weakest one is where you are whitewater rafting, as I never managed to keep from getting stuck on a rock or to get all the rocks cleared. However the rollercoaster ride is fantastic and I love the fireworks you get when you clear the Night Time Fantasy!
The voices are rather repetitive and where this game really stars is the various special effect moments but it is easy to play compared to some of the other pinball software packages so most players will be able to win high scores.
Don't get me wrong ... I think Thrillride! is a fun game, and serves as a good distraction from those graphics-heavy 3-D games, but it just gets old pretty fast. The main table is so small and crowded that there are only a few places to launch the ball, and it gets tiring to continue getting bonus points for refreshments. The bonus tables are interesting, but not quite as fun as they could have been. The design-a-coaster table, for example, is interesting in concept (hit certain bumpers to turn the track in a different direction), but you have to watch the ball to make sure you can stay on the table, and you don't get a chance to watch the coaster simulation as you play. It's a little too distracting.
Compared to other pinball simulations, Thrillride! is better than most, but when comparing this one with the other games in the "3-D Ultra" series, it pales. It's still fun, but it doesn't have the excitement or replay value that came with Creep Night or The Lost Continent.
