    I read some of the other reviews that said that one of the three remotes didn't work right. I took a chance on this, because the price was right, and I only needed two remotes anyway. Sure enough, Remote unit #1 was defective. It worked as expected when you pressed button #1, but it also worked when any other button on the remote was pressed. The other two remotes worked correctly -- only when the corresponding button was pressed. As others have noted, they are pretty bulky, but not a problem for my application. I received no instructions to speak of, just a paper insert in the retail packaging with features and specifications. Since these are not in the Amazon listing, I'll list them here: 120V/60 Hz Max Load per outlet: 1200 W Remote Battery: 1x DC 12V (23A) Remote Transmission Frequency: 433.92 MHz Remote control distance: 100ft (free area) Indoor use only The product DID come with a battery for the remote, even though it says "battery not included" in the Amazon listing. I bought some spare A23 batteries for this, although I have heard that these type batteries can last years in similar applications. Apparently A23 and 23A are the same, or "23A" is a typo. Anyway, the A23s are the correct batteries. I have only recently heard of this type of battery. They may be kind of rare. You may want to own an extra one. These are radio remotes. You do not need to point the remote at the device being controlled, nor do you need to be able to see it. The range seemed fine for any reasonable indoor application -- across the house.

      I read several negative reviews, but decided to buy the product anyway since it was very inexpensive and the switching remote was not infrared (meaning that it did not have to be in sight of the switch to operate the switch).

      The one thing you need to watch out for is the battery for the remote. It takes a special 12 volt battery - not the more common 'N' battery, which is close to the same size. I think that some buyers used the wrong battery, and that is why the range on their remote was so limited. Oddly, the device did not come with a battery. The battery you need was in stock at Walgreen's for about $3.00 - a lot less $ than the 'N' battery that is more common and of a similar length but slightly larger diameter. The devices are made in China, and may not be UL approved - not sure - but I am an electrical engineer who has designed products for UL and ETL, and have no qualms about the safety of the device when used within its specified load limits.

      I like the fact that the switches (there are three switches operated by one remote) each have two LED's - one to indicate that the device is receiving power from the wall socket or extension cord, and the second to indicate the device has been switched ON or OFF. The devices also have two push-button switches on the devices - an ON and an OFF switch. I like that better than a single switch, where you are never quite sure if pushing the button is turning the power OFF or ON.

      The range on the remote was over 20 feet, and through some obstacles. I am using the devices to turn on lights on a cabinet where the switch would be very difficult to access. I am quite satisfied with the product, and would recommend it without hesitation - especially at the very low price on Amazon.

      This 3-pack is exactly what I was looking for. I have 3 lamps around the room that are plugged into the wall outlets. Now I can turn them all or any combination of them on without having to walk around the room and navigate around the furniture. There are 3 issues that cost this thing 2 stars:
      1. Remote comes without a battery and its one of those special batteries that regular folks are unlikely to have around the house. So I had to do to the store to get the battery.
      2. Plug-in units are BIG. They are as big as entire wall outlet together with the wall-plate. And they are thick too. And they have red LED lights on them. So, unless your outlets are well hidden and out of sight - they will look UGLY on your walls.
      3. Remote does not seem to reliable switch the lights on or off. Sometimes it requires more than one click and sometimes it almost seems that you need to be in direct line of site from the wall switch for it to work.

      So, its not perfect, but for now I am reasonably satisfied with this product. Would not buy a second one of those though.

      UPDATE: I have just downgraded this product to 2 stars. Apparently, the shape and size of those remote controlled units is such, that you cannot use the second outlet - the unit blocks most of the wall outlet, so the second socket becomes unusable. Also, for the reliable operation you will need to be within 5 feet from the plug you are controlling and have a direct line of sight from the remote to the switch. Any furniture seems to block or interfere with the signal. I'd say this piece of junk is not worth the money.

      This remote control power switch works good, I used Energizer A23 battery as recommended, and it worked perfectly, I can easily control my power switches in upstairs, one press is on and another press is off, easy to use and control. Two things I should mention , the size of the switch is too big, so it will occupy your whole outlet on wall. Secondary, the battery cover of remote is very tight, it is difficult to open it with you fingers. In general, it looks like built in low quality nut works perfectly.

      This is a wonderful product, especially for the price, and it even comes packaged with a battery for the remote! (Note: the battery size for the remote is a little unusual, a '23A, 12V' if you are looking to order spare batteries for this product) The switches work as advertised, and the solenoid even makes a pleasant little 'click' when switched from the remote.

      The only drawback (the reason it's not five stars) is that the wall units are a little bulky--you will only be able to fit one of them into a standard wall receptacle, and they stick out about 2 inches from the wall, so you won't be able to fit them in tight spaces behind appliances...

      If I were producing this product, I would also consider including a wall-mounting bracket for the remote. That would come in handy!

      These units work exactly as specified, however the outlet units themselves are large (like twice the size of your standard wall wort). They are so large that if you plug them into the top outlet (or any outlet in a four outlet location) the other outlets are either partially blocked or completely blocked. In a two outlet location I could only plug a lamp in below - our baby monitor AC adapter wouldn't fit with this unit plugged in above.
