There is a significant variety here, and some of these juice drinks can also double as a cold soup -- perfect for a hot summer day. I was surprised at how good some of them were. As a single person, I'm now able to get the nutritious benefits of vegetables I'd be unlikely to prepare and eat as part of a meal (like beets).
Some of the recipes could benefit from more detailed directions, and if you're willing to let go of "doing it exactly right" and enjoy trying the recipes, this book is a helpful resource. I imagine more practiced juicers probably wouldn't even notice.
Lastly, as much as we know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I love this one! It is fresh, clean, and oozes healthy goodness. Much like the book.
It's pretty easy because it doesn't require a huge lifestyle change. All I have to do is make and drink a veggie and fruit juice everyday. At first I wanted to just drink V8 but when I found out how much sodium was in it, it wasn't going to help my blood pressure one bit.
So I bought the author's book. I wasn't expecting much but I knew I had to try something. My taste buds are used to sweet things so in the beginning I had to add more fruit to most of the juices to make it more to my liking, but after a while I didn't have to make it as sweet anymore. It's like my taste buds "came back". Juicing has given me more energy to play with my kids, and as a side effect I've lost over 8 pounds without changing anything else. My skin also looks more youthful and clear which is amazing. But you know what they say -- you are what you eat! If you want to be healthier all around, juicing is one of the easiest things you can do for yourself. It is a simple lifestyle habit anyone can stick to, and I'm actually looking forward to my next doctor visit!
The recipes are tasty as well, my favorite would have to be Spinach & Sweetness, I love Spinach and this twist with the oranges and apples was a tasty surprise.
The alfalfa sprouts were left out the first time I made the recipe, maybe next time.
