When she arrives she meets Tariq Navarra a Helix who is half human, just wants to be left alone, he has his own problems but Camille is not someone you can just brush aside. After being held responsible for her actions by the station commander, they become close as Camille, tries to help solve a murder she heard from listening to someone else's thoughts.
This was a good read but it lacked some details that I felt were important. I never knew why Camille was held in seclusion by her father; although Tariq's problem was explained - we never hear why no one believed him, when they had the evidence. And I never learned why her brother handled their problems in the way he did. The characters were good and the storyline was interesting.
I will definitely look for more books from this author. I gave this book 5 stars because I liked the characters, I enjoyed how devoted the two main characters were to each other, and because it was a fun and entertaining read with great humor. I need to read more books like that these days!
This is the story of Camille Brighton a Class a Telepath. She has lead a sheltered life and while she has earned scroll status she is now not technically a scroll. When she was 14 one of her fathers killed her mother and tried to kill her when his telepathic gift drove him insane. She was badly injured in the attack and it has left her barren. When her brother arrives and sends her careening through space on her own to escape the man who tried to kill her, Life takes some unexpected twists and turns.
First the craft that was supposedly programmed to take her X4 and her brother's friend Quinn lands her on a station called Beta 4 in the back and beyond of nowhere. She accidently deprograms all travel knowledge from the craft and the stations techy wind up dead. All soughts of mysterious things being to happen. Her one salvation in all this is Tariq Navarra the Helio coordinator of the station who is assigned to guard her until they can resolve the issues that surround her and the death of the space station techy.
It is love a first sight for Tariq although it takes him a while to figure out his more than protective instincts where Cami is concerned. It's a wonderful and very complex story and one that you will absolutely find you cannot put down. A must, must read for this series.
