“Life’s major accomplishments are made one step at a time. 31 days is not long, but if you take daily steps you will make progress. I thought I didn't need this book. Most days, if someone asked me if I were a happy wife, I would reply with a rousing, "Sure am!" But I wonder, if the same question were asked of my husband, if he would be so rousingly sure. Would he say that on a regular basis I was, "Hopeful, Adaptable, Positive, Purposeful, and Yielded"? I may be able to smile and keep things under the rug, but the aforementioned quality traits are what makes me a sincerely happy wife. Not only that, becoming a wife who is Hopeful, Adaptable, Positive, Purposeful, and Yielded takes the undue pressure off of my husband, whose job is NOT my happiness (providing and guiding is hard enough)!

Reading Arlene Pellicane's book, 31 Days to Becoming a Happy Wife, I realized that happiness does not come from my circumstances or what my husband does for me, but from my attitude and outlook, and especially my faith in God, who is my true and lasting source of happiness. Each day and with every circumstance, when I take my eyes off of my human husband and put them onto Christ, my heart is full, soft, satisfied, and consequently, sweetly overflowing to my husband and family. What I love about Arlene's book is that she not only turns my eyes to Christ for the happiness I need, she then turns turns my eyes to my husband, so that I see, respond to, and pursue him with a happy heart.

The chapters are meant to be read as an enjoyable, one-a-day vitamin that builds us up to become more of what Christ has made us to be as wives. I love that it's entitled, "Becoming..." because as we look to Jesus, scripture says we "are transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another" (2 Cor 3:18).

More women need to read this little book! But more than that. We women need to put the truths in this little book into practice in our daily lives. Because if we do, we will become not only happier wives, but happier people. I have discovered these truths myself through my own prayer and Bible study and have practiced them and I know through experience that they work. But I have found myself in an emotional place where I need to revisit these truths again and it was not easy. I didn't like it and I couldn't even read the book at all at first because it cut me to the core. It challenged me to begin to do again what I have known all along, but for some reason was neglecting to put them into practice. I am glad to say that I am finally on the other side of that and am beginning to practice these things again and I am a much happier person and wife again! These principles and truths work! They really do. Read the book and start practicing what it says. You'll be glad you did.

This is a solid book. I was inspired by what I read and, if I didn't have 7 kids at home that I'm trying to school along with all their activities, I would have finished it. Honestly, I really hate these kinds of books- usually there's more of an emphasis on the woman taking responsibility for her husband's behavior or walk with the Lord. This book is using inspiration rather than obligation as a motivator. And I was motivated! By the way, this is a good author. She has another book about raising social children in this tech age. I think I almost read everything in that one. :). I think this isn't my season for finishing books, but hey, someday it will be...and when it comes, I'll be ready!! If you have time, ditch the typical submission books and pick this up!!

I loved this book! The author encourages us to make a conscious choice to be a happy wife. Each day has a prayer and power thought that I found extremely helpful to focusing on developing this new habit. It is extremely easy to read and well written, unlike some Kindle books. It can be read in the daily format suggested by the chapters or however fits your schedule. While I think of myself as a happy wife, I still found nuggets of wisdom and encouragement along the way.

I got the book to find out if I was a happy wife. I simply adored the Bible verses to bring cheer and happiness, peace and contentment.
Books like this are speaking in general, I understand that. It still was a good read, but one needs to focus on the concept: The only person you CAN change is yourself. I decided that happiness inside each of us, and a God given gift. So yes, I am a happy wife.

Good book and not to much to take on at once. Focuses on self help and becoming a stronger partner. Ideas are realistic and not to aggressive.

31 Days to Becoming a Happy Wife by Arlene Pellicane is a practical and insightful book for wives to embrace. Every chapter begins with a Bible verse and a true (and sometimes funny story) that Arlene shares to illustrate her point. She takes the acronym HAPPY and writes 31 short chapters filled with wisdom, guidance and balance for a wife to ultimately make the choice in how she will choose happiness. These are the keys to happiness. HAPPY stands for Hopeful, Adaptable, Positive, Purposeful and Yielded. Take the marriage quiz at the beginning and determine if you are a happy wife. Each chapter ends with a picture for you to create in your mind and a prayer. There is also a discussion guide included that would be a great study for many happy wives!

Arlene's candid and personal approach to expressing her views are very engaging. I agree with her approach to marriage and I highly value what she shares in light of God's Word. She makes me think differently about marriage, myself and my husband. Arlene is honest and practical in this new book that will help wives to truly strive to be a happy wife. What a refreshing and delightful book to read!
