TWO WORDS......LOVED IT!!!!

Dan & Ellie's story is an emotional, heartwarming tale of two people who have been hurt in different ways and when at their lowest stumble across each other by chance. One phone conversation has them both melting at the other's voice and when they meet they find themselves inexplicably attracted to each other.

Ellie's character is adorable yet sexy, intelligent and funny. She had me laughing out loud throughout the whole book and I found myself connecting to her character straight away.

Don't look in his eyes, Ellie, I warned myself.....he's some kind of sexual hypnotist.

Dan is capital H.O.T - HOT, I had a clear image of him in my head as soon as his character was introduced and then the way he was described in several scenes throughout the book had me increasing his HOTNESS level each time ;) He is a very private person and lives almost a recluse lifestyle. When Ellie rents a boathouse for a month in the middle of nowhere to get away and find herself she had no idea she would literally only have the sexy Dan as company.

The book is told day by day and the way C.J has built up the sexual tension between these two had me staying up until all hours of the night reading. While Ellie's character is laid open and her history on display for the reader to see, Dan is a closed book, only giving snippets of information to both Ellie and the reader frustrating her to no end.

The story is filled with sexual innuendo and double entendres and yet this is what made the story so enjoyable as CJ has a way of making it work perfectly every time within the storyline. Dan is Ellie's way of letting go of the past and moving forward, hopefully with her heart still intact at the end.

31 Days of Winter tells the story of Ellie and Dan. Ellie has booked herself a month on a remote Scottish island after finding out her finance wasn’t the man she thought him to be. Ellie has sworn off men and relationships but when she meets the tall, sexy Dan who will be her island help for the next four weeks, Ellie knows he’s going to be hard to resist.

Dan is secretive and mysterious. He has an instant attraction for Ellie but he forbids himself to act on it. He feels like he doesn’t deserve someone like her and with skeletons in his closet, he tries to keep her at arms length. But with only Ellie for company on the island, that’s easier said than done.

It took me a while to get into the story as a lot happened at the beginning; Ellie had her life implode in her face, she had issues with her job and then she arrived at the island. It wasn’t until 25% that the book hit its stride and I got into the writing as well as island life along with Ellie. Dan was the sexy stranger she tried to resist but it was nice to see their relationship bloom into friendship, well when they weren’t blowing hot and cold with each other that is.

Ellie’s character was naïve, and although that was frustrating at times, I suppose in order for the storyline to work it had to be that way. I just wished she was stronger at points, she did her best to stand up to Dan and not accept his behaviour but she was only human and who could blame her for giving in to that fine specimen.

Mercurial Dan got a little bit too much for me, I don’t know about Ellie but I had whiplash just trying to keep up with his mood swings. I really wished we got more of his point of view. I would say his pov made up less than 20% of the book.

I was excited to read 31 Days of Winter by C.J. Fallowfield, as I am a huge fan of her writing, but nothing could have prepared me for the emotional turmoil of 31 Days of Winter.
This is a story of Ellie Baxter, who is a hard working senior editor at a publishing house, who is not only dedicated to her job, but also to her fiancé Zac. That is until; Ellie takes a day off of work to surprise Zac with a romantic weekend for his birthday, but she is the one surprised when she finds him in their bed with two prostitutes! Slowly everything about their life together unravels and Ellie finds that she was engaged to a stranger.
So Ellie decides to take a month off from her job and go write a book and decide what she should do with the rest of her life. So she books a holiday in a beautiful house on an isolated island in Scotland. The last thing she expects is to fall in love with the houses caretaker; only to find out he has lied to her too… I am stopping there as not to give away any more of the story, and trust me I have barely skimmed the surface of this delicious story!
I have to say that the talented hands and mind of C.J. Fallowfield has done it again and completely blown me away! This book is truly amazing and I found it hard to put down…which is why I didn’t and was sleep deprived and had a huge book hangover for days after completing this book.
The writing was smooth; the story was gripping, thrilling and heartbreaking all at the same time. The characters were well though and I honest can say I fell in love Dan myself.
There is only one drawback I found with this book; it’s a two part series!!! Not I have to wait for the next book *sob* but it is well worth the wait! As this book is simply divine!
So I give 31 Days of Winter a well-deserved 10 out of 10!
