I still love this coat for everything I mentioned below; however, it seems this coat is filled with "feathers," and not "down." The quill of the feathers poke through the fabric and eventually make their way out. If this coat was filled with 100% down I am certain I wouldn't have this problem. The feathers are coming out everywhere (not just at the seams) . . . :( I'm sad.
This coat only had two reviews before I made my purchase. One good, the other, not so good. This company not only makes coats, but vests and other items as well -- which all had nearly five star reviews so I decided to go for it and make the purchase on this coat. I am very satisfied! It's super light so I don't feel like I am bundled up and it keeps me warm here in Seattle. It's also soooo soft and it's easy to put on over sweaters and bulky fabrics. The fit is accurate as well and the sleeves are perfect in length. I am 5'8 145 pounds and ordered the large.
I just received this jacket and having never owned a “light -weight down” only your 1st gen, more bulky ones, I wasn’t sure this would hold up to the cold temps because it feels so thin. Today was wasn’t freezing yet, but 37° , I only wore a t-shirt under my jacket and I was all but sweating upon returning from walking my dog. It was also raining & I was worried it might ruin the down, but I saw another reviewer mention the water beading up and rolling off, so I risked it, and it sure did! Now, I need to do some more research on this specific jacket as to HOW water resistant it is before I’d wear it outside all day in the rain, like at a sporting event- This was just a 5min dog walk.
Next is sizing, I’m a L-XL in tops due to bust, but reading other reviewers measurements who purchased L’s , I knew I’d need either an XL or XXL. I went with the XXL and prob could have gotten away with the XL, as it’s very roomy. I will keep it though because I have a few thick-heavy winter sweaters that I couldn’t wear much last year due to my previous coat being so fitted.
I love that there are snaps AND the zipper.. if I don’t want to mess with zipping it all the way just to run the doggo out real quick, I can snap a few snaps while I’m on the elevator & that will suffice! Also the hood detaches, which I like having the option incase I want a more streamline look in the back while wearing a toboggan.
I’d say this is a good purchase for the money. I will update as it gets colder.
This brand of cost was being offered by Macy’s and theirs was same...when I took off the coat, my top was covered in feathers and I then had an all-out, major allergy attack.
I love the design of this coat. It is very slimming, with deep pockets and a wind flap in front of and behind the zipper. I also like the fact that it is so light, you barely know it's on. I can wear long underwear and a sweater underneath without feeling like I'm stuffed into a sausage. I wore this coat in 40ºF weather and had to remove it because it was too hot for me. I think this will be a great all-purpose coat. I like that it comes with a small bag you can stuff it in for travel.
It is a little difficult to zip it up. The zipper has to be held in a perfect position to zip it up, and I find that to be a bit of a hassle. Once you learn its quirks, though, it's fine.
I will update this review once I wear it in colder weather. So far, I can find no major flaws.
