Perfect, no drip.

After going thru so many glass dispensers I have finally found the perfect one. Fits 1/2 gallon of liquid w/fruit. I used this so far to make a pineapple/vodka and blueberry/vodka. Fits (2) fresh pineapples cut into rings with 1/2 gal. of vodka with room left over. Unlike other ones I've used the lid has a rubber gasket making a nice fit and the spigot dones NOT leak! Yeah, about time, with other ones I've used the spigot over time ends up leaking, making a mess and the dispenser useless. No amt of tightening or caulking ever works to fix the problem. It also takes up less counter space and looks nice.

This beverage dispenser is very pretty. The color is nicer than pictured - more of a light blue/green like you often see with antique jars. The glass is thick, about 1" on the bottom. My only complaint is that the spigot is very cheap plastic (that's the only reason for 4 stars). Since we're going to leave this in our refrigerator all the time, we replaced it with a solid brass spigot we had from a broken dispenser. So, I can't say for sure if the plastic one would leak, but I don't think it would hold up for very long. It arrived well packaged without any damage.

April 2012 -- This dispenser is beautiful green glass and I'm glad I bought it, but in contrast to the reviewer who said the spigot is metal, mine arrived with a very cheap plastic spigot. It looks like shiny chrome but it is plastic, with a yellow dot on top that shows which way to turn it. It leaks, not from the spigot itself but around the gasket where it is attached to the dispenser.

I plan to order a nicer brass spigot and replace it (and the gasket), because the container itself is really great.

BTW it seems that every beverage dispenser I have ever purchased leaked either from the spigot or the gasket. You almost always have to replace one or the other or both. It is absurd that all the manufacturers use the such cheap off the shelf gaskets and no one bothers to figure out one that is suited to curved glass containers.

Plastic spout leaks....

Such a pretty jar. Shame the plastic spout drips when I place the jar in the fridge. Doesn't drip when at room temp, but what good is that? Company needs to use better spout, and/or figure out expansion/contraction and plan accordingly. I purchased a metal spout which doesn't drip, but is so hard to turn it moves the jar in the fridge even when it's full of water. So I'm not getting the use I had hoped for.

I had a rare moment of forethought before filling this container with sweetened tea and did a test run with water. Left it overnight and had a damp towel in the morning. Leak was very slow so I guess if you are purchasing for short term beverage dispensing (like a party) this is pretty and will serve you well. However, anything longer and you may have a problem.

This jug is just adorable. It looks like vintage glass, with little air bubbles caught in the glass. It holds about 1.5 gallons, just right for my large family. You do have to tighten the nut inside when you first get it, I think they ship it a little loose to prevent breakage. I tightened it to just finger tight, not too much. There haven't been any leaks. The younger kids can get their drink without the spills that they had with a pitcher that was too heavy when it was full. I like it too since I have arthritis, a heavy pitcher was painful. This is perfect for everyday use but plenty nice for company. The lid seemed to be a little loose at first but with use is now snug, maybe from hot water softening the gasket.

Now this isn't fancy like the jugs on stands. I had one of those and took it back. You still had to scoot them to the edge to fill a tall glass, and most of them held several gallons. Nice for a party, but not for everyday. And when they are full they are HEAVY! Hubby had to lift it. I can manage this one.

Really like the glass - vintage look. The spigot is close to the bottom and easy to use. I believe it is metal, although quite thin. The reasons I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 are: I would like the spigot to be a little more heavy duty and I would like a better rubber seal on the lid as I use this dispenser as our everyday countertop water dispenser. It's very pretty, easy to pick up with the two handles and easy to use.

I bought this because I needed something for my continuous brew Kombucha. I was going to leave it on my counter so I wanted something pretty. I read the reviews about it leaking but thought I would try it because it's so pretty. When I first started using it there was a bit of leaking. I realized I'd forgotten to reach down INSIDE and tighten the spout mechanism with two hands, one inside and one outside. That did the trick. It's been in daily use for about 6 weeks with no leaks.
