that is, until i found that tilex still existed in commercial form. what's this use to attack the scum? citric acid? cute little mustachioed bubbles? no: this stuff uses HONEST TO GOD AMERICAN CHEMICALS. with names like ethyl methyl benzyl something something. the kind of chemicals that have soap scum QUIVERING IN THEIR TINY SCUMMY LITTLE BOOTS! who's laughing now? probably not the soap scum, because it is down the drain and on the way to a long and painful stint at my local sewage treatment facility. thank you, clorox! now i can invite guests over and not fear the look in their eyes as they come back from a trip to the bathroom.
okay, one tiny little whine though. i guess there's no way to make sure the stuff won't do a little leaking in transit, so it was packed in a plastic bag (inside the box) to keep it from setting off chemical alarms at the post office. a tiny bit still leaked out, but all that did was fill my mailbox with a clean fresh scent that warned off any soap scum that might have been thinking of taking up residence there.
I was so excited when this arrived i took it straight to the shower for a no scrubbing test drive, and was blown away!
With no scrubbing the shower and tile i sprayed it on, i let it set for 3 minutes, and rinsed with a cup of water. The shower glass and tile looked almost as good as in the past with other cleaners and labor intensive scrubbing. I can only imagine how good it will look with minimal elbow grease!
I immediately ordered 2 more bottles!!
If you hate scrubbing, order at least 2 bottles, youll be happy you did.
Anyway, I have found that this product has little if any effect on the soap scum (if that's what it is) accumulating on the plastic walls of my shower. It's kind of dark and dirty looking, and very hard. If I scrape a tiny spot with my finger nail, it will only come off after a lot of scraping. If I spray some of this new Soap Scum Remover on an area of the walls and let it set for a few minutes, pretty much none of the scum comes off merely by wiping it with a sponge. I have to use an abrasive scrubbing pad and a lot of elbow grease to get any of the scum off. I could probably do just as well with some scouring powder or dish detergent, or just the abrasive scrubbing pad alone.
Admittedly, part of the problem may be that I am dealing with a soap scum residue that has been building up gradually for years. This is the scum that I never managed to remove when using ordinary household cleaning products.
The meager directions on the bottle of Tilex Soap Scum Remover are also tricky to find. They are under a peel-off label on the back of the bottle. I had no trouble turning the nozzle to the "ON" position, but when I squeezed the handle, the liquid came out as a narrow stream, as with a water pistol, whereas I wanted a fine spray to cover an area of the wall. The directions say, "Pull ring nozzle OUT for FOAM, or push it IN for SPRAY." I never did figure out what "ring nozzle" they were talking about.Read more ›

This is probably the most effective bathroom cleaner on the market. Water, by itself, isn't "dirty". Read morePublished 4 months ago by James M George Jr (firstname.lastname@example.org)

I've used it one time and it did a great job cleaning the scum. The bottle has lots of warnings about getting any of the solution on your hands, eyes etc. Be careful.Published 9 months ago by Robert R. Lynch
NOT like the Tilex from a few years ago. That stuff WORKED!! This current stuff is weak and does NOT cut the soap scum as quickly and as effortlessly as the original TilexPublished 15 months ago by Patrick W. Rutherford
