My husband got a little too excited installing his new rain guards on his truck that when it started to sprinkle outside he figured he could still get the last one on. He was wrong and since the adhesive tape on the back of the rain guard got wet it was no longer sticky. We ordered this adhesive tape so that his truck would not look silly with only 3 rain guards. It worked great as a replacement to the original adheasive. He also used it to attach a led light to the inside of his camper shell so that we can actually see to grab stuff when it is dark. We have been getting a lot of rain here since he put on his last rain guard and it has held up just great. This adhesive tape is great and really worth the money!

This double sided tape has actually come in useful for all kinds of applications. I bought it to put a spoiler on a car. As long as you prepare the surfaces correctly and have lots of contact surface area it works great. I also used it to tape a DirectTV receiver on the back of my outdoor TV so I didn't have to build it a shelf for it and it worked great. It's sticky as all get out. I will say I learned that it may not work well if applied in cold conditions. The hotter and more humid the better it will stick.

Before applying, just make sure the surfaces of each are very clean. First clean with something like Dawn dish detergent on a wet sponge and rinse thoroughly. Then, using a paper towel doubled or tripled up into a pad. . . wipe down with at least 91% alcohol going in one entire direction . . Flip the paper towel over and wipe again in the same direction. I also used CRC MAF Sensor cleaner which is a great degreaser but won't harm paint.
Do not use mineral spirits or other petroleum based solvents as they will leave enough oily residue that you can not see or detect.
Then to be sure if you want. . . . get some 3M adhesive promoter and apply before the tape.

3M products are amazing and I stand behind every product they release. I previously used this tape to mount up my rear diffuser for my car and it held up really great for almost a year. I decided to re-mount the diffuser again since it was a bit crooked so I went ahead and purchased another roll of these heavy duty 3M double sided tape! The best part is that these do not hurt your paint at all, I was able to peel everything off with ease using the 3M Adhesive Remover product!

Ridiculously Strong!

I was a bit worried that this would not work in the application that I needed it for. I was going to use it to adhere a Korean-European plate to the flat license plate surface on my rear bumper. What worried me is that it may not adhere to the metal plate. Boy was I ever wrong! I used up about half the roll, adhering it to any and all flat surfaces of the back of the plate, then letting it sit (with some weight on it) for about an hour to really grab hold on to the metal and then removing and exposing the backside adhesive then gently applying the plate onto the ABS plastic of the bumper; then putting the State issued plate over it.

All I need to say is that this 3M adhesive is ridiculously strong! One would really need to put an effort to rip off the plate from the bumper all because this 3M tape is super strong. This tape was used in conjunction with 3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter, Sponge Applicator .

I bought this tape to use in a project for my 2016 WRX. The dealership provided me some Aero trim pieces for the rear bumper, and one of them was installed poorly. The alignment was awful and the look was distasteful.

My plan was to remove the poorly installed piece and reinstall. However, I was concerned about what I was going to use to make sure the trim is firmly adhered to the bumper such as it is with the factory installed tape. I was so HAPPY to say that this tape turned out to be exactly what is installed on the trim piece from the factory, and carefully following the directions will result in an extremely tight installation. This panel will not flap in the wind, break off, or melt off with this 3M tape product. This is truly automotive grade.

To remove, apply heat with a heat gun on low for a moderate period of time, and pull with firm pressure. You can use a plastic razor, GumOut and heat to remove the remaining residue.
