Adhesive Transfer Tapes with Adhesive
3M High Performance Acrylic Adhesive 200MP is a popular choice, and industry standard, for graphic attachment and general industrial joining applications. It provides outstanding adhesion to metal and high surface energy plastics. This adhesive provides some initial repositionability for placement accuracy when bonding to plastics. It also performs well after exposure to humidity and hot/cold cycles.
- Excellent shear strength to resist slippage and edge lifting
- Excellent solvent resistance
- Up to 400⁰F short-term heat resistance
|Temperature Cycling Resistance – High bond strength is maintained after cycling four times through: 4 hours at 158⁰F (70⁰C) 4 hours at -20⁰F (-29⁰C) 4 hours at 73⁰F (22⁰C)||Water Resistance – Immersion in water has no appreciable effect on the bond strength. After 100 hours at room temperature, the high bond strength is maintained.||UV Resistance – When properly applied, nameplates and decorative trim parts are not adversely affected by outdoor exposure.||Humidity Resistance – High humidity has a minimal effect on adhesive performance. Bond strength shows no significant reduction after exposure for 7 days at 90⁰F (32⁰C) and 90% relative humidity.|
3M Adhesive Transfer Tape 468MP is a 200MP high performance acrylic adhesive with 4.2 mil, 58 lb polycoated kraft liner.

The tape is working well so far for me, but has some bad reviews. It sticks to itself because of the way it is cut from thicker rolls.
I solved that problem by putting the tape in the freezer for a few minutes before unrolling it. The cooled tape is a little stiffer and doesn't stick to itself as much. I had to put it back in the freezer several times during the application process to keep it cool. It would help if the air is dry during this process - if it's very humid then you will probably have a problem with condensation and moisture under your tape.
Problem came when I needed to replace the PEI surface for printing. This tape does come off easy. After finally prying off the PEI surface, took me about an hour to get the glue residue of the aluminum bed. This was an hour of scraping, using a terpene based glue remover, naptha, misc other cleaners/disolvers I could find, and this tape resisted most and the whole process became a bit of a massive sticky mess
If I use it again I'll probably use it as an adhesive between a glass plate clipped to the bed and the PEI, since then I could remove the glass plate and be able to clean it separately from the printer hardware, and should come off of glass easier than metal.
Bottom line is this WILL stick down anything you want it to, but beware that clean-up can be a headache.
I had an easy time removing the adhesive from the backing sheet but had problems applying the thin adhesive layer to the build plate without getting pockets of air trapped. What I ended up doing was getting a needle and puncturing the large air pockets. The next time I need to apply this adhesive to something I will try the soap water technique that is used for applying car window tinting. When I get around to trying this I will probably write an updated review.
The adhesive seem to be very sturdy and strong as it is very hard to remove it from objects. This is good for my application because I can’t have my build plate moving or warping during one of my 3d prints. Update from a couple of months of usage on my printer. With all the heat and stress of the warping abs that was done to the adhesive it seems to be holding up strong without any problems. I can safely say that it is a very strong adhesive that seems to be of very high quality. I will be changing my build plate with a new material soon and hope that it will be easy enough to remove it from the metal base plate. Update I found that using isopropyl alcohol helped me to remove the adhesive from my build plate but your experience will probably differ from my one.
Overall a fantastic adhesive that can be trusted through heating processes.I would recommend those who are looking for a double sided adhesive pad to buy this one. Especially if you want to use it for a similar usage as me for your 3d printer. This adhesive is very handy to have around the house because you never know when you would need it and when you do it will be hard to find something like this a places such as Walmart.
