3M™ Cloth Gaffers Tape 6910, a matte, vinyl-coated cloth tape, minimizes light reflection in entertainment and video productions. The thick adhesive bonds well to rough or smooth surfaces, then removes leaving minimal residue when used for hanging draping and covering trip hazards. Strong and water-resistant, the cloth tape is recommended for bundling, tying, and holding cords and sealing and protecting against rain and other moisture. Industrial uses include protection from shot peening, bead blasting, and abrasion. In addition to the film and entertainment industry, 3M Cloth Gaffers Tape is used in abatement, metal working, manufacturing, military, and general industrial applications. It tears easily by hand.

3M™ Cloth Gaffers Tape 6910 is 12 mils thick, has adhesion of 45 oz/in width, tensile strength of 45 lbs/in and elongation at break of 5%. The tape can be used in temperatures up to 200 degrees F.

5-star performance, 3-star price, so I'll give it 4 stars. If you don't mind the price, this stuff is excellent. And in fairness, I wouldn't whine about the price if it were 1/3 the length and 1/3 the price. I wish I didn't have to buy such a large roll, but so be it; I guess I have a lifetime supply for my needs. Based on everyone else's reviews, I decided not to cheap out and to go ahead and buy 3M quality, and so far I'm very glad I did. This gaffer's tape leaves no residue, and is reusable. I can use the same strip 3-5 times; just carefully pull up from the carpet/floor and rewind on the roll. If I had gone with a cheaper product and had to throw away each strip after one use, that would have been false economy, and since this 3M tape doesn't leave behind residue, it's worth the price.

I'm new to gaffer's tape. A lot of things in my house are black and I want to repair instead of replace within reason. This is a pretty great find for someone not familiar with the world of tape. I guess I thought everything was shiny duct tape. I like that it's matte. It has a woven look, but very, very subtle. It's a good, deep black. It will stretch enough to distort around slight curves. I've used it on fabric and it sticks surprisingly well. It's only been a few days, so I can't comment on whether or not it will remain well-attached. Bit I read about people using it on car-tops out in weather, so it should work OK. I bought a small roll of UGlu outdoor tape to compare and it seems nearly exactly the same. It's a bit pricey ($38) but it's for 60 yards ($.21 per foot), so I'm OK with a lifetime supply for $38. It was a good investment for my uses.

I've bought 3M gaffers tape before, and had no issues at all with it. This time, it's tearing at an angle for some reason, rather than straight across and, frankly, it's annoying.

Other than that, no issues. I tried a different brand a while back, and it left glue residue on everything I used it on, which was seriously NOT GOOD for the way I used gaffers tape, as a temporary tape in the studio or at client's locations when shooting photos. The 3M tape has never done that to me, which is why I've stuck with it.

Just really not liking that this roll is tearing at an angle, and hope there's not some new manufacturing process that will make that the new standard from them. If the next one does that, I may have to start shopping around again.

I originally bought this tape to make a black border on my wall around my painted projector screen. It worked great for that since it absorbs so much light but 35' didn't make much of a dent in the amount left on the roll so I started using it for other things as well. It makes great painter's tape when you need to have the tape curve. Regular painter's tape just tears but this curved with the outside of my car rim that I'm powder coating. This is very strong tape yet it tears in straight clean lines even easier than duct tape. Very sticky yet doesn't leave the surface sticky after removing the tape.
The only tape I've used that is stronger is aluminum backed speed tape but that doesn't have all the other great properties of this tape. In short, if you were going to buy duct tape, buy this instead!

I was a bit concerned with how out of round the roll was when I received it (flat spots) but so far I think this tape is the best I've tried. Wish it was a touch wider, but not a real big deal.

Quite a bit more expensive than the previous brand I used which was comparable.

If I could give it 4.5 stars I would.

If you know what Gaffer's Tape is, then you know why a first-rate form like 3M 6910 gets 5-stars. It's a bit pricey, but that's what you need to pay for a strong fastening tape that doesn't leave adhesive when removed, lasts years in-place and tears precisely and pretty easily. When people mention "duct tape" as a general purpose hold-all, what they usually want is Gaffer's Tape. The cheap "duct tape" (or worse yet "duck tape") is awful stuff compared to this. An interesting competitor for strength is "Gorilla Tape", but that leaves adhesive on everything it touches and is just difficult to deal with.
