This hook and loop product constitutes a 100 mil to 160 mil engaged thickness and uses a 3.0 mil white polypropylene film liner printed with our red 3M logo. Hook and loop fasteners are effective for securing fabric to furniture cushions, airplane seating, carpet panel attachments, uniforms, gloves and clothing. These types of applications are widely utilized in electronics, construction, specialty vehicle, military, medical, furniture, as well as general industrial operations where securing surfaces that can be unfastened and refastened thousands of times with no bulging rivets, screws or bolts is desired.
3M Fastener TB3526/TB3527 Trial Bags consist of nylon hooks and woven nylon loops which engage each other to form a quick fastening attachment and offer advanced closure alternatives to zippers, screws, snaps, hooks, etc. 3M Hook and Loop Fasteners are designed to improve appearance, function, and productivity versus these traditional reclosable fasteners. No drilling, no tightening. They offer greater design flexibility, faster product assembly, smoother and cleaner exterior surfaces and improved product performance in many applications.
3M Trial Bags Simplify Selection
3M Hook and Loop Fasteners Trial Bags provide a simplified “go-to” selection proven successful for most common applications, along with just the right length and quantity for trial run testing. With up to 5,000 closures for our standard products, 3M Hook and Loop Reclosable Fasteners offer a solution with a reliable pressure sensitive adhesive for a secure hold.
3M packages and labels its industrial/commercial products for purchase and use by industrial, professional, and commercial customers. Unless specifically stated on the product package or applicable product literature, 3M industrial products are not packaged, labeled, or intended for sale to individual consumers (ie., the general public).

Amazon's price for ten feet of length is reasonable. 3M's strength is in adhesive products, so I would expect the seal to last well over time (at least in indoor environments, as this product is rated for.) I'd like to see a little more information on the packaging about the rubber adhesive -- 3M usually has some scientific properties listed on their adhesives when you can identify by name or model number -- but that's not really here. I'm docking one star for this. It seems as if this SKU is mostly meant for consumer rather than industrial consumption, but I could be wrong, and perhaps there is more detail elsewhere. Nonetheless, the front of the package notes the closure life is 5000 cycles, which does sound quite impressive (mushroom tape is only rated for 1000 cycles, for example.)
It fits in all the same places as my Velcro brand hook-and-loop but seems more heavy-duty, so I'll keep this for the areas with more frequent sticking and unsticking.
3M knows adhesive. I've never found a velcro adhesive I really liked. Either they were too gummy and had seepage along the edges that made everything dirty and gross, or they didn't adhere as well to certain surfaces (particularly fabric--and sew-on is not always practical).
I like that the 3M fasteners are targeted to specific applications (read the description to make sure you're getting your best adhesive), as I usually have a specific project in mind when I buy a roll. I have several half-rolls of Velcro brand that didn't work out for the project I had in mind, so I like that I can get a better idea up front with the 3M. As with velcro, the rolls are a *much* better value than the chintzy little cardboard backed hang-tag packages also on offer.
The difference between the 3M "velcro" and the Velcro velcro is the Velcro (real stuff) is better at being Velcro and the 3M product has better adhesive. The reason the real stuff is better, though only slightly better, is its hook side is molded plastic and the hooks don't change. The 3M version has tiny wires that start to pull out of shape as you repeatedly separate the two halves. However, it will take a whole lot of pulling aparts (pullings apart?) for there to be a noticeable degradation in the holding power. What is likely to break down first is the...
Adhesive backing. The 3M adhesive holds a lot better though only time will tell if it holds longer. Given that 3M has been doing *that* since forever my money would be on it staying stuck to whatever I stick it to for a very long time.
The trick, with either product, is to make sure the surface being stuck to is clean and dry. Also, wait a few hours at least before putting an pull on the adhesive.
Having had a chance to use both products, I would reach for the 3M version first because of the similarity in hook/loop holding and its superior adhesive strength.

This works great!!! It has adhesive on one side and the Velcro on the other. You can just use the sticky side or you can also stick it on and sew it in place for double security. Read morePublished 13 months ago by Deborah K. Dobbins

Real Velcro, or 3M hook and loop? That's the question.

The temperature rating is listed as medium, but so far the 3M adhesive works light years better than Velcro or other brands (or no-name brands) of hook and loop tape. Read morePublished 14 months ago by Gearhead Mania
