Smells HORRIBLE!

I would highly reccommend that you DO NOT buy this product unless you enjoy the smell of plastic. It is strong. Normally I ignore complaints regarding smells because I figure the smell must eventually air out. So not true with this product. Yes it's comfortable and functional. However, after almost 2 months of using it, it continues to smell strongly toxic. In fact, I've been having problems with a sore throat and talking recently and wonder if this product may have any affect on that.

They Work, But Older Wrist Rests are Much Better!

I purchased these to replace a pair of the same model 3M Wrist Rests I purchased over 10 years ago! The newer model is not has high, has squared off edges, is not as soft or as comfortable as the older ones. They work and if you never had the older 3M Wrist Rest you would not know the difference like I do. I am rating this model based on the older model. They are probably still the best available to purchase at this time but I had hoped they would be the same as the ones I purchased several years ago and sadly they are not.

This wrist rest has been a wrist saver for me. I was getting a sore on my wrist from so much computing and it would not heal. Every day it got worse. Finally, in desperation, I bought this wrist pad and my wrist healed in about 48 hours. I do not suffer from Carpel Tunnel syndrome but I'm sure that it would help with that too. Now I look forward to working on my computer. It is a long pad that allows for freedom of movement. You don't have to worry about where you put your mouse. Small wrist rests are fine too, but this one allows for more freedom of movement. I highly recommend it.

Not what it used to be

I bought my first 3M gel-filled wrist rest many years ago and was happy with it. It's really soft and I felt very comfortable with it. So when the time came to buy a new one, I made sure I get another one just like the old one. But after using the new one for 4 months I have to say that I am disappointed. Actually, I bought two. The first one was blue. The color is not practical and it soon started to look dirty. So I bought a black one. But after a short while the gel started to have dents and therefore stopped being comfortable. On top of it, the cover material started to get separated from the base.

This wrist rest is not as soft and flexible as I had hoped. I have one that has worn out and wanted to replace it with the same kind but it does not have a brand name on it and I have been unable to find a replacement. After reading the description for this 3M wrist rest, I had hoped this one was similar but unfortunately, it is not. I had purchased a previous replacement but it was way too hard. Guess I'm just spoiled with a really nice, worn out, squishy one that apparently is no longer available.

Deforms and splits open within a few months

I replaced a 12-year old gel wrist rest with this one three months ago, and the new 3M one is already in worst shape than the old one I replaced. I tend to lean on the left hand side of the wrist pad with an elbow and the 3M pad has split open on the right hand side, releasing sticky clumps of gel that get on the desk or anything that brushes against then.

Excellent wrist rest, poor quality

PROS:
-The gel is the most comfortable feel I've used.
-The nylon material is non-abrasive and comfortable for long periods of use
-Wrist rest is heavy and will stay put
-Cleaning up the goopy gel that leaks out is sticky, but leaves no residue on fingers

CONS:
I've gone through 3 of these wrist rests in the last couple of years. The nylon material keeps separating from the base and then the gel is squeezed out onto the keyboard/desk/etc. I've replaced it with a new one when I get tired of cleaning it up. The latest one I bought didn't last more than 5 months before the material separated again. I'll be replacing it with a different brand.

Going by the descriptions, this matched the one I used to have most closely - soft, gel wrist pad, not too hard, but well made. So far it's excellent! I am so pleased to find something like the one I used to have. I work with a computer over 10+ hours a day, and so the wrist rest is really important to prevent wrist pain. Glad I could find this on Amazon!
