I plan on reaching out to 3M to see how they can help me out (I'll post an update with more info when I have it). In the meantime, I wanted to let folks know about my experience with this product.
I've used a standard keyboard tray for a long, long time -- the kind with four feet that attach to the underside of your desk via screws, with a standard drawer glide -- and the design flaws finally got to me. Meaning, the unsteadiness, the unreliable locking utility, the inability to adjust height, angle, and position, the tendency for the screws to work out of the particle board desktop, etc., etc. So I researched online and settled on this model.
The very design flaw that people reference in the comments on Amazon were to my mind a plus, because I realized the adhesive aspect would make installation a breeze. No way I would trust adhesive alone to hold up this entire assembly, though, and it's wrong of 3M to sell it that way. So don't assume you can trust it either. And 3M does include a pack of screws, so evidently someone there knows the truth.
Here's what you do: You hook the front end (it also has adhesive on it) to the desktop, then press the back end to the desk underside for 30 seconds, and you have perfect positioning. Now you don't have to hold up a heavy assembly while lying on your back trying to make pencil marks for drill holes.Read more ›
I've only had this a few days and I still like it, but there's an annoying issue I need to figure out. The part that sticks to the desk in the back stays just fine, but the piece that connects the track to it doesn't stay very well. It's basically a plastic piece that fits into another plastic piece with some pegs.
Everything is fine if I pull the tray out farther, but if I push it in (when I leave work for the day or something,) the pegs pull off and the back hangs off. More to come when I find a good fix for this. (I'm thinking about just supergluing the pegs together since I don't really see a need for them to be seperate pieces
6/29: Luckily there are holes that make it possible to attach the track to the desk, because I had to do so. Better to buy one that needs tools anyway because there are better options for adjustments, but I'll make it work!
Well, after one day, the whole tray collapsed and fell to the floor. Evidently, there was just tape that attached the tray to the desk. I had to get a maintenance man drill holes and affix screws, and now it works.
But do not believe the advertisement because tape alone is not enough to hold it up!
Luckily, it's okay now, but do not believe the advertisement. It does need tools and screws.

This is a great product in concept: a keyboard tray that can be easily assembled and attached without drilling holes or having to screw it in. I got it about six weeks ago. Read morePublished 1 month ago by GoCarCanes

The adhesive is not really strong enough for the tool free installation to work.
It is easy enough to install with some wood screws so that isn't a big deal. Read more
