This is NOT the real thing. I have purchased and used this item many times in the past and immediately noticed the difference.
While switching out an old filter with this new one, I noticed the filter itself was significantly thinner than normal. Once I put my respirator on, there was a harsh and unpleasant chemical smell that I have never experienced with these filters. I decided to try it out anyway and cut several pieces of wood. I was able to clearly smell every bit of the sawdust, etc which is a dead giveaway that this is not an authentic product. When using these filters, you should not be able to smell anything through them, and if you do it is usually a sign that it is time for a new filter.
I came back to look at reviews and found the one by Mary M., who also received a counterfeit product. After reading her review, I found on my product some of the same cosmetic differences she noted, such as the printing of the word "NIOSH" on the filter and the word "importante" on the top left of the back side of the packaging.
This filter is designed to protect against small particles such as asbestos and you can become seriously ill from using a fake and unlicensed product such as this. The selling of this counterfeit product is a serious health and safety violation and I will be reporting it.
