Peltor's indoor/outdoor range E-A-R plugs work in any shooting environment. The ultimate shooter's plug--one plug for both ranges. The yellow end offers noise-activated protection up to NRR 22dB for outdoor range use, while the olive end provides conventional NRR 22dB for indoor range use. All backed by Peltor E-A-R plugs 25-year reputation of excellence. Made of soft non-irritating polymer for all-day comfort. Used by the U.S. military. No valves to wear out. The hearing protection choice of law enforcement, the military and shooters all over the world can be your choice too.
3M Peltor Technology
The first foam earplug, introduced more than 35 years ago, was invented by a young chemist by the name of Ross Gardner, Jr. His early work on energy absorbing resins (E-A-R) commercially introduced in 1972, was the genesis of what later became known as the E-A-R Classic Foam Earplug. The contributions by Ross Gardner, Jr. are still found in 3M Peltor Earplugs today and continue to provide an exceptional combination of comfort and attenuation in hearing protection. Today, the line has been expanded to include various sizes and shapes of foam, pre-formed and noise-activated earplugs.
Preventing Hearing Loss
Hearing loss due to noise is almost entirely preventable by judicious use of hearing protection. A good hearing protector should remove harmful noise, be comfortable to wear, and be able to be used for all types of shooting activities, construction work, and DIY projects.

I use these for shooting at the range. When I am shooting my 9mm, or around other handguns like 45's etc., I still prefer my over ear cans for better ear protection. I mainly use these when shooting my .22 as my cans get in the way when trying to get a good cheek weld with my rifle. As long as no one is next to me shooting a 30/06 or other high powered rifle, these offer plenty of protection. They offer total comfort when just shooting my .22, and if someone is next to me with a .223/.556 I still feel comfortable.
At this price, I bought two so I have a set for my wife or a friend if they forget ear protection. I would definitely purchase again.
When I first put in these earplugs I was disappointed because they did not seem to block even the soft sounds of my house. But I've learned to try everything (with backup ready) and so I installed the earplugs and went off to my weekly ordeal of the Wal-mart pharmacy.
I was amazed. I could still hear but the plugs removed the sounds that hurt (jarring noises, children crying, customers yelling to each other from the length of the aisle, electric wheelchairs backing up, the unrelenting din of humanity, etc.) and made the trip, not pleasant, but relatively so without isolating me from my environment. Really improved my quality of life at a small fraction of the price of many things I have tried.
I see in some reviews that the pieces can fall apart. I'm a couple of months in now and haven't had that problem, but I've bought two backups just in case.
