Much like a cheap movie set, it is just a flimsy hollow plastic thing in the SHAPE of a sanding block.
It breaks into pieces after just minutes of use.
Products like this are the reason online shopping can be a bad idea: The product LOOKS like something you want... in a distant photo.
I have found that the block will not stay together unless I tape the joint on both sides of the block (duct tape). It is far too light, too insubstantial to do any serious work with requiring far too much energy and attention to work at all well.
Maybe for modelers but I can not see this used anyplace else: I would certainly suggest a different sanding block.
I was surprised when I received my new blocks to see that they are kits (duh, I missed that in the description). By kit, they mean that it comes with an assortment of cut-to-size adhesive-backed sheets of sand paper. And there is a 1/10" thick felt-like pad stuck to the flat side of the block.Read more ›
I bought three of them. They are OK, though heavy, and I am forever pricking my fingers inserting the sandpaper.
Today I found these on Amazon, so I bought two more. Now I can have a block ready-to-go with the various grits that I use on my projects.
My only modification, is to apply some self-adhesive cork to the face.
I'm using the pre-cut adhesive-back sandpaper which is designed perfectly for this tool. The pre-cut sandpaper stays put because of the adhesive, however, you can easily remove and replace the pre-cut sandpaper without much loss of the adhesive backing.

Exactly what I wanted and improved over past design. I am not fond of the solid rubber sanding blocks. They leave marks on the work and are too heavy for long term use.Published 4 months ago by gkw

Exactly what I needed to refinish a table top. I thought I needed the heavier rubber but this 'kit' actually worked much better, more control.Published on June 6, 2013 by Krispin Sullivan

This worked so well if u don't need an electric sander and have a few smaller projects. Holds the paper well.Published on May 25, 2013 by keike
Needs too much sandpaper to use. I suppose is best used with adhesive sand paper. It has a nice weight to it though. I've tossed it a few times at Chip&Dale with a nice effect.Published on November 30, 2012 by Pierre El Capitan de Castanets Enimigo
