Product Description

Product Description

Protect cable jackets from damage with 3M Wire Pulling Lubricant. This clear-colored, polymer gel offers a low coefficient of friction to minimize impact on your wires. This lubricant is great for electrical and communication cables, and it wipes off easily to ensure clean terminations and splices every time.

From the Manufacturer

3M™ Wire Pulling Lubricant Gel WL is a translucent white polymer gel that is applied to wires or cables to enable a worker to pull the wires or cables smoothly through a wireway or conduit, with a minimum level of tension. A low coefficient of friction makes pulling easier and safer with less chance for cable jacket damage from forceful pulling. The thick gel may be applied quickly without running or dripping, saving you from messy cleanups. The colorless formula doesn’t stain wire or cable jackets. The gel is suitable for pulling a wide variety of cable types, such as power, control, instrumentation, and communication cables, including coaxial and fiber optic cables. The lubricant is compatible with most common types of cable jacket materials. Broad compatibility with a wide range of cable types and jacket materials virtually eliminates the need to carry several lubricants. Low solids content means less conduit blocking if additional pulls are required. This gel is UL listed and CSA certified.

3M™ Wire Pulling Lubricant Gel is temperature stable, enduring both freezing and high temperatures in storage without phase separation. The temperature use range is between 20° to 110°F (-7° to 43°C). Low solids content of <3.5% allows for multiple applications without adverse conduit blocking effects. Contains no wax, grease or silicone.

For more than a century, 3M™ has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. 3M™ electrical products for industrial, commercial and residential construction and maintenance include electrical insulators, connectors, splices, terminations, terminals, fire-resistant tapes, cable ties, portable labelers, and diagnostic and detection products. Actually bought for use as a wetting agent for a couple of pistol suppressors (9mm and .45 acp). Much thicker than water, about one ml will last for several shots especially in reducing that first-round pop. EZ to put into a smaller bottle for stowing in your chest rig.

Works great for "wetting" suppressors. I use 10cc from a syringe into my 45cal Osprey. Lasts longer than water and doesn't run out the end of the can. I get 20-25 shots before having to add more.

This stuff is awesome! I had a conduit installed between my basement and top story, and run all of my Ethernet cables through it. In the past, I've used string/cords and had to carefully pull cables with a new piece of string/cord attached. No more with this goo. Just grease-up the cable as you push (taking advantage of gravity), and it goes through the conduit like excrement through an avian. I'm sure the pros know all about this stuff, but it's excellent for home use as well. Note: I covered the plug end with masking tape to keep the goo out of the connector - worked like a champ.

Hey, its supposed to be slippery, its a lubricant. Pulling wires or cables through conduit needs a little lube, especially if your going more than just a few feet. The quart size is more than enough for what I need it for. The last time I bought a bottle of wire pulling lubricant was in 1988, and it dried up recently, so I bought this stuff. HD sells a similar product, but I'd have to use gasoline to drive there. Prime shipping from Amazon made this a no brainer purchase, along with a spool of wire pulling string.

Does what it supposed to do. Was going to order another brand by a two letter company, but this was the only brand prime shipped at the time, and I needed it quick. But, I ended up being glad I purchased this one. If your 3m experience (like mine) was previously scared by those other "white" gels, this stuff is actually very usable. Made in USA.

The label says it will evaporate and not harden on the wires. My experience was the opposite. It hardened like cement when it dried on the wires. It did make pulling wires through conduit easier but disappointed that it hardened on the wires instead of evaporating like it claims.

The lube worked well for my application, however you will notice that you have to keep applying it. I bought this to run wire for my home theatre through conduit I installed behind my fireplace. It did the trick and wasn’t sticky, however you have to use a good amount to keep the friction level low. That said, this was more than enough to do the job, it was just frustrating to have to stop to squeeze out more gel.
