"It’s a beautiful life Ken has given me, one filled with security and laughter and intelligent conversation and honeymoons in Paris and well-behaved children with long attention spans and cute noses and his-and-hers sinks and 401(k)s and well-manicured lawns. I just wish the orgasms matched the drapes, if you know what I mean."
BB adores her husband Ken but things have gotten a little .... quiet. BB discovers that Ken may have secretly read parts of her journal, and when he does, things get MUCH spicier and hotter between them. Thrilled with Ken's newfound interest in sex, BB decides to embellish the stories of her past boyfriends. The writing is absolutely charming and hilarious, written as if BB was talking to a best friend. I was really hoping for Ken to wake up and take an interest in his marriage because it was obvious they had amazing chemistry together.
"What he does have is a Captain America–style square jaw with a subtle cleft and a permanent five o’clock shadow. He also has enviously high cheekbones. His aqua-blue eyes are hooded by long espresso-colored lashes, and his sandy-brown hair is just long enough on top to allow for a good grip. His physique is lean yet muscular. His sense of humor is dry. He is brilliant and self-deprecating, and he has the ability to skip rocks across any body of water (a secret turn-on of mine). "
This book is best enjoyed with glass or two of wine. I can't believe this is BB Easton's debut book! Each of her past boyfriends was charming, dangerous, sweet and sexy in their own way. I loved the descriptions of teenage first love and the '80s references were priceless. BB Easton is nothing if not brutally honest. Her descriptions of married life and babies are spot-on. Everyone can relate to this story! BB spends much of the book hoping that her straight-laced husband will get her name visibly tattooed somewhere on his body. And she just wants him to be a little more aggressive. She doesn't think she is asking for too much!
"I want to take him with me everywhere. I want us to live a hundred years and die at the same time. I want them to mix our cremated remains together, dump us into a river, and watch our mingled ashes swirl like coffee creamer all the way to the ocean. I want our souls (okay, my soul and his, whatever he has, operating system?) to find each other on the other side as soon as possible just so that we can fall in love and make more babies and do it all over again. I just also want him to f-k my brains out. "
This is a very funny book, written with great sensitivity and a sharp eye for detail. BB Easton has already written the next book in this series which is about her boyfriend Knight. What a character!! I can't wait to read his story, 'Skin.' I was pleasantly surprised by this wild and crazy story! After reading this, I feel like BB Easton is an old friend. I love her writing style! Pick up this book if you're in the mood for a funny, very raunchy story.

Sara the psychologist
While writing in her journal BB referenced conversations with the journal by name. You got it her journal was named Journal. BB informed her friend Journal about fond memories from her past. BB wrote two journals: one from her past included ex boyfriends and one for Ken which was to educate him in areas that BB deemed needed working on.
BB in her younger years was wild, crazy, and bad. BB explored sex at a young age and put up with loser ex boyfriends for attention and love.
BB was married to Ken for ten years and had two kids. BB felt sexually deprived after having two kids. Ken was a vanilla lover while BB enjoyed kink and variety. Sara entertained the idea to play an experiment with BB's journal and Ken. Lesson was to use the journal to educate Ken on all fantasies involving BB in the sex department.
BB's imagination ran wild. She created some sexy sexcapades with her husband that were clumsy attempts at being kinky and spontaneous. Each attempt was disastrously funny.
While trying to spice up her sex life with husband Ken BB wrote about her ex boyfriends hoping to spark some passion into her husband. BB dropped hints in her journal entries encouraging Ken to give compliments, provide a pet name, initiate sex, and tattoo her name on his body.
At first, I thought the author was trying too hard to be funny, but the more I read, the more I realized she actually IS funny. At one point, I was laughing so hard (about tattoos), I was crying. I had one of those, "I can't breathe because I'm laughing so hard," moments.
A very quick, light, fun read. Give it a try!
Yet, there were moments when I found myself tiring of the author and her um, obsessions. I fell in love with "husbot" Ken, who I found to be long-suffering and endearing. I loved when she took a moment out from her complaining or reminiscing to actually sing Ken's praises. He sounded strong, sexy, and (mostly) fabulous.
If you are not a fan of sarcasm, this book is not going to be for you. This is definitely an 18+ read, based on the steam factor, adult situations, as well as language.
