Easily cuts through stacks of cordura, webbing and the like

I needed something that could go through a stack of 2 layers of 1000d cordura, 2 layers of 17337 webbing and a layer of spacer mesh (all at once), and this melts through it. I had a Brother CS-6000i, and while I did a surprising amount with it, it would struggle on the aforementioned areas. This machine cuts through it like butter. Another plus, since you can set the needle position both to the left and right, you can get the stitch on webbing around buckles much tighter (closer) to the buckle than I could with the Brother.

Take some time getting used to it before doing anything important. Whereas I had the tension on 9 with the brother, this does the same on tension 3. The foot pedal, while very good at blasting through things, need a gentle touch for slower stitching. The installed 100/16 needle broke quite quickly (I was kinda abusing it, seeing what it could do), replaced with a Schmetz 100/16 and no problems so far.

The only really con I see is that it needs to get off to a running start. The minimum threshold for getting the needle moving is a bit fast, doesn't leave much time to turn for curves and the like. I foresee making ample use of the hand crank for more sensitive areas. Edit: I have found that using the hand crank to give it a bit of momentum while lightly pressing the pedal can get it moving at a slower speed from the get go.

Bought this machine less than two months ago. I only used it a few times. I was sewing on it today, and when I pushed down the reverse stich lever it went in reverse but now the lever seems different and the machine will no longer go forward. I tried turning the machine off, but no luck. I can't believe it broke already!!! The only service center is a couple of hours away and you cannot ship it to them.

We purchased this machine to repair our boat cover, as my lightweight sewing machine was not up to the task. This machine is small, about the size of a regular sewing machine and does not come with a case. An instruction sheet with threading instructions and a pack of accessories is also included. This Singer Heavy Duty Sewing Machine had no trouble stitching thick fabric, without hesitation. The motor did not seem to be taxed at all and just breezed through the job. Impressive.

Useless. It did not work well from the first stitch. Very few things work well on this machine. I barely did finish a priest habit, but the sewing and resewing and resewing was a problem. Now, this is my "SECOND" same sewing machine. Nothing like being a glutton for punishment. The first one with which I struggled from the beginning also, barely hung in for a year; the second (different number but identical machine) last barely six months. I surprised myself that I did not take out some extra insurance. I do not see that I did. Unjust trade. Thank you.

This machine blows similarly priced machines from its competitors away. More durible, sturdier than expected for the price and weight. Truly will see through multiple layers of outdoor fabric. It's got several features I have used on projects. I sewed crochet work on to a multi layered comforter with ease. No problems when making a jean skirt out of old jeans. Easy to feed silky fabrics as well as upholstery fabric. I've been using it for 3 months and am very pleased with preformance.

Not Heavy Duty. I have owned about three Singers in my lifetime and this is buy no means any more Heavy Duty than anyone I have owned in the past. It may look heavy duty because it is ugly but the quality is subpar.

I started sewing this summer as a new hobby. I am now hooked! This was the first machine I have ever worked on. There are a few variations of this machine and I would always recommend buying a machine with the automatic threader, even if it is say $20-40 more it’s well worth it in long run. The machine is so easy to use with many stitch choices, widths, and lengths of stitches to choose from. But also, the machine is simple and doesn’t have all the added crap and mechanisms that take extra set up or a digital menu which requires you to scroll through stitch options etc - you simply turn knobs. The machine also has a large and wide sewing base to rest your projects on that many other machines at this price point have. In addition this base is removable so you can manoeuvre larger fabrics like a sweat shirt. There are andso many YouTube tutorial videos on this specific machine from the Singer sewing company on how to wind the bobbin, put the bobbin in the machine, how to thread needle, how to use stitch widths, etc. The parts and bobbins for machine widely available. The power is good for price point, but as I have progressed with sewing it isn’t able to make it through large fabrics like say if you tear a thick pair of canvass jeans where the loop to the belt goes and need to sew it back on to jean the thickness of those two fabrics the machine struggles with. Overall great machine! If I was rich and could afford all the gizmos of an expensive machine. I probably would have this one around as well for simple projects like hemming, sewing patches, etc just because it is so durable and easy to use. Can take it with u anywhere. The machine came with many parts as well and attachments!

As soon as I received this machine, I layered 11 pieces of cotton twill and tried sewing through it...it not only sewed the entire 11 layers, it was smooth and without any skipped stitches. LOVE LOVE LOVE this machine.
PS Check Costco Canada (Toronto) because they were selling it for a lot less in May/June.

The first thing I did to get to know the machine was test out all the stitches ... I was very disappointed. All the decorative stitches look nothing like the drawings on the machine to describe them. I don’t see myself using the majority of the decorative stitches because they don’t look good at all! If they looked the way they did on the machine I’d use them but they don’t and that was a bit part in me buying this machine over other cheaper models.
I was also very disappointed in receiving a package FULL of STYROFOAM. I’ve made two orders in the past year from other companies of expensive electronic/mechanic kitchen items that where kept safely in the box with cardboard. There is no need for such an unsustainable material.
I will not be recommending this machine to anybody. There is better out there
I think the diagram on how to use the machine are VERY good but I don’t think this is the only singer sewing machine with those diagrams and this machine is very expensive to a first time user ... and for what you get. I wouldn’t of chosen this model if I knew what I know now.

When it comes to doing its job there are no complaints about this machine from me. I've opened a few support cases cause I needed a longer foot pedal cord, and I can't figure out how to open the top to do basic maintenance on the machine arm. I haven't had any luck dealing with Singer support at all. They seem apathetic to their customers though it may just have been people worried about the pandemic we are experiencing now. That being said a longer foot pedal cord, and extensions for this machine simply don't exist. To get a longer cord you'll need to befriend an "electrician" at least as skilled as I am. Lastly the 20% off accessories card that came with it is useless because Singer accessories are no longer available from their web site so it's essentially only good for the purchase of a new sewing machine.

All gripes aside I haven't had any mechanical problems with this machine of any kind. I've had a sewing machine for two months now and with no prior experience machine sewing I've made a bunch of different projects due in no small part to how easy this machine is to use. It makes a pleasant mechanical whirring sound when it's running. It seems very capable of handling everything I've thrown at it. The hook race is easy to clean. It's easy to thread. It's easy to wind bobbins. Etc. Etc. The machine is very good. There are a number of bundles which are essentially the same machine. This 4452 as best as I can tell is the exact same machine as the 4432 except the 4452 comes with a small accessories pack. Were I to know what I know now if I went with another Singer machine it would be the differently accessorized 4432 which comes with the extension table. That one is sold at my local WalMart and I forget the exact model number. Also if you're buying one of these consider that you'll likely need the 11 piece Singer accessories kit which also includes a walking foot. The cheap feet found online are mostly garbage that will get chewed to pieces and get metallic dust in your machine. Honeysew is the only 3rd party name I've found to sell quality accessories that isn't a major name competitor such as Brother. I hope this information helps you. Good luck, and get sewing! :)
