the itty bitty braided material on the external part of the rope is cotton. The white Internal core is NOT. I even did a test burn when I had doubts because at first I thought the core was just plain ole cotton. When I did a test burn the itty bitty braid burned just fine like natural cotton but the core just melted and looked like a marshmallow and then it started bubbling and expanding and releasing what i will presume to be a gas. It looked like clouds expanding. Well, I have another rope to add to the back of my truck for future tie down use...but...that is not why I made this purchase.

I needed 100% natural rope for an internal support construct for a sculpture. I needed to do a Burn Out and need natural fibers to do that without gases producing cracks when I do the burn out with melted bronze.

Not as advertised. I had originally intended to use this to make dog's toys after reading that all natural cotton rope was the only safe thing for my dog to be playing with. Upon opening the package, my first impression was that it definitely needed to be washed because it smelled like plastic or gasoline. There were yellow spots on some lengths of the rope, too (which later washed out). I thought the smell might've been due to something getting on it during the machining process.

Where the washing did remove the yellow stain and most of the smell, it also revealed the core of the rope. As another reviewer had said, it looked like a rolled up dryer sheet. I unraveled some of it and pulled it apart (I'll add my photos if I can). It was definitely not cotton. It stretched when pulled and frayed the way plastic fibers would, not break like natural cotton fibers.

If you're looking for All Natural Cotton rope, this is probably NOT what you want.

Will work for my intended use, though I needed to remove the core first. It does NOT have a "cotton strand core" as stated in the description. Instead, the core material looks like a reeeaallly long fabric softener sheet, which to me, doesn't look like cotton at all. This may or may not be a problem depending upon what you plan to use the rope for. I wish it was in fact a cotton strand core, because then I could use the smaller diameter strands for something else. Instead, I now have 50ft of wasted fiber going into the trash unless I can figure out how to embed it with fabric softener. So, since I will more than likely be throwing this stuff out, it's also not as "good for the environment" in my opinion.

Still, I'm happy with the quality of the braided rope itself, even though the diameter was reduced when I removed the core. The cotton is soft and pliable when washed, and has a natural look to it. Though I absolutely dread removing 50 MORE feet of wasted core material, I'm buying more!

This is a good strong rope made out of cotton - just as described. I'm sure it is great for all the uses that are listed - so 5 stars. But just be aware that this rope is not for use around animals that might chew it or around kids that might get it on their hands and then eat without washing. It has been treated with some sort of oil & pesticide that I could not wash out. Fortunately, you can smell the pesticide and feel the oil or it could have been tragic.

While rope is rope and is capable of doing the job it claims, that does not necessarily mean it is GOOD rope. You can see the core through various gaps in the weave throughout the length of this. That being said, this is very soft to the touch, comfortable to work with, unless you slip, in which case, it's natural fiber cotton, of course you will get rope burn when not wearing gloves. I would be more inclined to buy this again if they tightened up the weave to where it looks good as well.

the center of this 3/8" rope is 1/4" "dryer sheets". It is wrapped in a thin sheath of standard cotton rope. Don't buy this if you need it for anything except VERY light jobs. I bought it to make dog tugs for my Jack Russell, however the 1st on only lasted about 10 minutes, AND THE DRYER SHEET CENTER CORE MADE HER PUKE!!! So be very careful what u use it for. I will just thro this in the bed of my truck for tie downs.

This is cheap for a reason. The outside braid to the rope is so thin and sparse you can see the inner "cotton" core through the braid. The inner core does not seem to be cotton, and more of a synthetic core similar to a dryer sheet material.

The product description does mention the outside braiding begin natural cotton and the internal core being regular cotton, but the thin braid of the outside cotton makes this a pointless piece of rope. Returning thanks to Amazon.

Can not hold any load very fragile. We pulled the rope at two ends and it snapped in two pieces.
