From the Author
I know, that's a big 'promise' isn't it?
And I know, most of us are just SO jaded from hearing how to change, transform and revamp ourselves, our lives and our relationships.
A big part of the problem is that often the ideas, programs and techniques that have the biggest 'pizazz' and the biggest marketing budget behind them are often the most superficial.
People like the idea of changing and transforming a lot. But to actually go ahead and do it? That's something else entirely.
But if I've learnt one thing in life, it's to take every process, every journey, every big change, just one step at a time. All we have really is today - and when you start to look at things that way, even the most amazing changes stop looking and feeling so scary and overwhelming, and start to feel somehow do-able, instead.
Take things one day at a time
That idea of taking things one day at time, but still achieving some amazing breakthroughs and insights, permeates every page of my latest book, '49 Days: An Interactive Journal of Self-Development'.
Now, you might be asking yourself 'Why 49 days?' - and if you are, that's a great question. The simple answer is that the number seven counts for a lot in most healing traditions, including the Jewish Kabbalah.
In a nutshell, the Kabbalah teaches that there are seven main areas, or 'traits', that each of us has to work on in order to perfect our spiritual dimension and character traits.
There are various opinions as to what these seven traits specifically translate to, but my take on it is as follows:
- Love and relationships
- Seeing the good (specialness)
- Sense of purpose
- The spiritual dimension

The minute I saw the first pages, I was enchanted.
First of all, I love immersing myself in the kaleidoscope of delicious color on nearly every page.
Secondly, the exercises are enjoyable and meaningful. There is also a really good balance, meaning that if one day's exercise demands more time and emotional investment, then the exercise of the next day or the one after is like a light breeze.
The author manages to combine heart-uplifting positivity with the kind of profound self-introspection that can lead to genuine self-improvement.
Furthermore, there are several exercises I'd never heard of before that I enjoyed and found very beneficial. In fact, I look forward to doing each new day.
Additionally, some of the exercises draw upon an exercise you did a day or two ago, and I like the continuity that provides. Also, that continuity prevents the inner work you've already done from just drifting into a forgotten vacuum.
I'd like to complete this journal once a year and then compare the current journal entries with those of previous years.
All in all, this journal is a delightfully artistic and pleasurable way toward self-discovery and self-improvement, which I look forward to purchasing on a yearly basis.
