It is exactly as described. Reads the temperature as soon as the water starts running and is very responsive. Blue when too cold...green when it's perfect..red (and beeps!) when it's too hot and automatically shuts off when we're done. It fits the faucet and stays put but has some give so that when my baby bumps it, it doesn't hurt her.

I like that it doesn't scream "another baby gadget!" It's functional and really, does it need to look like a whale or ducky? My daughter has plenty of other bath toys to keep her entertained.

My only "gripe" is that after we shower and shut off the water, the spout cover blocks the water diverter from fully collapsing (? is that the right word?) so that the next time we turn on the water, it comes out of the shower head rather than the faucet. It's not a big deal because after a few unexpected sprays to the head, I've gotten into the habit of pushing the diverter down prior to running the bath water. No biggie. Our diverter knob is larger than average (maybe about 1 1/4" wide) so I don't know if this would be an issue with a standard 1/2" to 3/4" knob.

Overall I would definitely recommend this spout cover.

1/9/14 Edited to add: We've been using this daily since October and still loving it! Checked for mildew last night and found nothing (saw a couple black spots which might be the start of mildew...but I can't tell yet). Haven't had to replace the batteries.

7/17/14 We stopped using this in June (after 8 months of use. My daughter is now 1 1/2) because the battery died and I've been to lazy to replace it. I still recommend the product to parents of newborns for peace of mind...bath water for newborns should be at about 100 degrees which is when this starts beeping red. I find 100 degrees a little too cool for my now toddler.

This is a great spout cover and we were very happy with it until it broke after less than 6 months of use. I contacted 4Moms thinking they would make it right by sending me a new one. Not so much. While we've been using the cover for less than 6 months we bought it back when my daughter was born and their policy is only to replace within 6 months of purchase. This is disappointing.

Customer service did offer me 20% off a new cover but it could only be used on their website where free shipping was not an option. So basically the "discount" would only cover shipping. Needless to say I am very frustrated and have chosen to go with a different product. I expected better of 4Moms.

First one I ordered, water got into the screen and the temperature read out wouldn't work anymore, this was within the first 2 months of owning it. Amazon kindly replaced it...the second one would NOT stay on the faucet (the first one didn't really either, but it did a better job than the second one). So the second one had to be sent back too. I think this is a really great idea, but it is done very poorly. My son loves his bath a little warmer...about 101-102...this starts beeping at 100 degrees and there is no way to silence the alarm, or adjust what temperature you want the alarm to start beeping at. Also, there is no alarm for if the water is too cold, which I think is also a big oversight. I would not recommend this product to anyone until it has all it's "kinks" worked out, and trust me there are a few!

This thing fell right off of my tub spout. You absolutely need to have a spout that has the piece on the top end of the spout that redirects your water in order for this to stay on. I tried to engineer a fix with zipties etc. but it wouldn't stay put so I had to return it.

I bought this little gem to ensure consistency in my little one's bath water temperature specifically when other people are caring for her (family or babysitter). It fits nicely over the tub spout and is very easy to install and secure. It is kind of bulky and not super attractive but it's definitely tolerable. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

It measures the temp pretty fast and accurate, however when it is installed/hooked the way it supposed to the stream splashes everywhere once it hits the temperature sensing part. If you notice, they do not show you the back photo. So let me try to explain.

This device is like a cover for a horizontal spout with a downward tip at the end.so once you install it, the end of the pointing down free end of the spout is hidden inside and the water will hit the sensor when it flows down. The problem it that the sensor is flat and when the water falls on it it splashes everywhere as if it falls onto a flat surface.

if you want to prevent spilling you have to decrease the stream, get to the right temperature and then guesstimate the temp once you increase the flow. Another way to avoid splashing is to manually shield the back opening and once you get the desired temp you can remove it or tilt it out of the water stream. The problem with that is that sometime the temperature of the water changes or you or the baby turns the facet accidentally.

It was great while it lasted! (which wasn't very long) =( i'm not really the type to do returns so that is a personal problem but if you can get it exchanged - go for it!

To some it seemed silly that i would buy this but it gave me peace of mind easily knowing (without second guessing myself) the temperature of the water. Especially the water in my place that goes up and down constantly. It has a meter on the bottom that gives a range of safe temperature levels.
