no b.s. or artifice here: language bare to the bone; work as crass and vulgar as life is crass and vulgar. The premise being a diary of sorts--diary of a sex-for-hire girl working in a red light district. And what a girl! Monster and princess. And totally believable. Bush is a conjurer, a magician. She creates, via language, a presence both alien and familiar. A wise sibyl--feminine archetype--ferocious in her appetite, commanding or submissive, as the occasion demands...She tags all the Johns, like the one from Madrid: "two inches," and India: "small bills," and Florida: "red panties" (wonder what my tag would be? "Come again?") My favorite piece of the collection is "Cleanse," when experience meets innocence and both gain in the encounter.

Ms. Bush does it again with a sophomore collection of the most visceral work I've ever read. Pungent with sex, yet dazzled with observation, "50 Euro", shows the underbelly of the human condition and all the taboos that we turn a blind eye to. I savored this book and know that Karina Bush is a name that will only become more known in time. Highly recommended.

Brilliant, visceral, disturbing, erotic, and even vulnerable. Often all at the same time. Karina Bush is in a class of her own and the antithesis of all these so called poetesses mucking up the literary world with their two line fluff pieces. There is truly nothing out there like her. A must buy.

A smooth harsh erotic blend of prose, poetry, lists, and cryptic comments into one disturbing and artistically satisfying unit. I've never read a book like this one -- I like its uniqueness, its in-your-face this-is-the-world-I-see descriptions. 50 Euro by Karina Bush -- good stuff -- angry, disturbing, dark, and wet. Highly recommend.

Irish author/poet Karina Bush is now living in Asia. 50 EURO is her second book – MAIDEN being her debut. At present she is working on a collection of short stories set in Belfast, Ireland. This book, as creatively presented in format as in content, covers the live of a prostitute in Amsterdam.

Karina creates or recreates the red light district of Amsterdam, well known around the world as the pinnacle of raw depravity. Yes, the verbiage is raw – appropriately so - and settling into the extremes of behavior and places and genital focused story/dissection of the infamous district and people who frequent as both workers and clientele takes a bit of mind adjustment. But Karina writes so well that very soon the portal we have entered becomes magnetic, exotic, erotic, visual and tactile and we are participants – like it or not!

A strong writer makes a stunning note about a world we usually encounter only in the off centered section of film and social media. Grady Harp, October 17

This book is too much a statement and piece of art to be considered an act of boldness. With a completely necessary terseness in her presentation, Karina Bush presents the combination of sex and money and a concomitant disillusionment and iciness all in one proper form. Certainly people will call this, as stated above, "bold," and/or "unapologetic," but these words, while relating to the nature of the text, they do not encapsulate the ferocity of the language, the storytelling, the poetic format and then the varied lists of included THINGS, the stuff of this side of late night living in intentionally dark spaces. Ordinarily I distance myself from poets and writers who write of these topics, for usually they are trying, trying being what kills the gift of a book. If the life is not there, first, there is no comprehension, and then the lie of the writing is as bare as its needed opposite. Bush puts together a phenomenal collection with 50 euro. I feel I'm still wearing images from my first reading of her. And that is impact. That is what writing can and should do.

Few writers today male or female can match the raw grit of Karina Bush. This colecrtion would make Bukowski or Burroughs blush. A unique poetic style that reads like prose you will feel like you're in the Red Light District and in the place of the whores and dark world they live in. It's a collection you need to read as a whole. Forget the trite pop poetry so many poetesses and she poets use on social media Karina is kicking ass once again. Raw and real. Buy this book you won't regret it!

A very entertaining collection of flash fiction and poetry, written from the perspective of a sex worker in Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Bush employs a pattern of short, impactful sentences and lines to create a jarring rhythm which perfectly compliments the often jarring content of this book. The lure of power is a prevalent and skillfully explored theme. Highlights of the collection include “Knifed,” “No Roses,” “Little Chickenburger,” and “I Only Looking.”

A total waste of time and money. The author tries so hard to be edgy it reads like a 15 year old's attempt at aping Lydia Lunch's writing.
