Faith, the Gospel, salvation, and works are discussed in great detail and numerous scripture references are provided. Some common mis-teachings are illuminated as a result.
There's an interesting section on "Which Jesus Do You Follow?" that exposes some inaccurate views of Jesus.
The chapter "Why the Church is Divided" has some helpful words of wisdom on handling scriptural disagreements while maintaining unity in the body of Christ.
"All about Baptism" discusses various views on the necessity/non-necessity as related to salvation and how that topic "tends to generate some of the most heated debates". (Seems simple to me - Jesus did it and said to do it, so if you believe the Gospel, why wait? "...Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of me being baptized?" Acts 8:36). But, again, the need to maintain unity and to temper all with love and understanding is emphasized by the writer.
The co-authors have generously shared their stories of grace with transparency. It's an inspiration to read of their experiences and struggles that ultimately drew them to the Father.
There's much more "meat" than the few things I've mentioned here.
I highly recommend this book - it's an excellent read!
God's Word is Truth. Accept it and believe. If you're having trouble piecing things together, welcome to the club of those of us who are partially sin-blinded and weakened. But don't give up. Be diligent in daily reading of The Scriptures and prayer, asking The Father's Spirit to give you understanding. Then, if you want to see what someone has to say that has been given the understanding you seek, read this book.
Gary and Jeff, your testimonies were inspiring in how our Father pursues after his beloved children lovingly and patiently to bring them into the fold, as he is not willing that any shall perish!
I would recommend this book to all those with questions and doubts about their salvation, struggles with FAITH and GRACE and TRUST, as the Gospel really is a very simplistic message and wonderful gift of hope and redemption from our Lord and Savior!
I learned a lot about how important it is to have the in-dwelt Holy Spirit guiding our lives and the POWER he brings to us in fighting against the daily temptations of the evil one. This book has strengthened my walk with the Lord, for sure!
I give this treasure (book) 5 stars for:
1. its message and infallible explanation of the Gospel
2. humble and inspiring testimony of the authors, and
3. the obvious diligent research and literal TRUTH of the Word of God put forth
P.S. You don't know me but I also have followed you all on unsealed.com for the past 2 years. I have never posted but want you to know how much your site has changed my life! I am very much a "watchman" looking forward to our "Blessed Hope"!
There is great, joy, hope and sobriety to be found here.
A great reminder in what faith, belief and repentence look like.
This would also be a great book for anyone you know who claims the Christian faith as their own, yet seems to drift towards either legalism or liberal theology.
