Changed routers, cannot reset/wipe old wifi settings from the outlet. Blinking blue light but no SSID broadcasted. Product rendered useless because I got a new router.
Took it appart. Seems there is a reset button, it's just intentionally covered by the top layer of sticker/plastic. I was able to pierce it with a tack and could reset it. Seems like an intentional thing to force you to buy a new one instead of being able to reset it on your own considering.
I'm using this to control a new fountain that I built and it works perfectly. I just tell Alexa to turn on the fountain and both the fountain and light come on right away.
After three months I am still very happy with the devices. Worked through and rain and shine. And most importantly, someone finally figured out how to make them work with Alexa: Make sure when you name them use only ONE WORD such as "Garage". If you do, Alexa will discover them and they seamlessly integrated into the Alexa experience. Use a phrase such as "Garage Door", no dice. Amazing that the manufacturer was totally useless in helping to figure this one out.
Ordered two, and I like them a lot. I use them for timed on/off of holiday decorations. While the units themselves work great, I am not impressed with the companion iPhone app. Not only a UI designed by a moron but the Amazon Echo integration is not working at all. I looked online, and I am not alone with that issue.
Edit 1: Beware! The Woods WiOn Android app doesn't fully work on the latest version of Android. It doesn't appear that Woods / Southwire has updated their app in a year and a half. Unless you have access to a device with an older version of Android, you may not be able to get this outlet to connect to your router. The out-of-box router connection dialog simply will not appear as it should when a new outlet is detected, regardless of clearing your phone's cache and app data or resetting your outlet back to factory defaults. Maybe the ECO Plugs app would be a suitable workaround? Maybe, but I haven't tried it to see. I ended up digging an ancient Android 4.4.2 device out of a drawer to perform the connection to my wireless network.
Also, the WiOn products domain seems now to be controlled by a cybersquatter. There is no longer a website available for you to find support or documentation for this outlet. The outlet and its app are abandonware.
I emailed Southwire a request for assistance, then followed up with my Android 4.4.2 workaround. If they respond with anything worthwhile, I'll update this review. So far my emails have gone ignored.
Original review: Rugged, stable network connectivity from the opposite corner of the house and through walls, and Alexa integration is flawless. The WiOn app features above-average flexibility, offering automation with many triggers: time of day, countdown, astronomic, and random vacation timers. It does not offer Google or IFTTT integration, though.
Bear in mind that Internet of Things devices such as this are heavily dependent on a reliable router. If you've got a garbage router, don't bother with this or any other IoT / smart home devices until you've upgraded. The Internet of Things tends to expose latent instability in mediocre routers. If you're not running Tomato, DD-WRT, Google Wifi, Ubiquiti, or better, don't blame inexplicable disconnections on your outlets. With OEM router firmware, more often than not, bugs are par for the course.
Long story short, don’t use long names for the switch. I named mine “Holiday Lights” but the Alexa couldn’t find the device on the network. Turns out you need to use just one word for the name. I renamed the switch “holiday” and Alexa worked first try...after trying to figure out the issue with their customer service. Not the greatest app or Alexa integration here.

I use the first plug with my Xmas Laser Light and my second plug in my chicken coop for the heat lamp.
Just to let you know that the software for my first plug by ECO also works for this plug by Woods. This is an excellent product and I would highly recommend it. Very well constructed and very durable to the cold. Just read and follow the user guide instructions carefully. You can connect it to any router and reconnect it to another router if so desired at any time. Read the FAQ in the guide to do the reset.
You can NOT control each AC receptacle separately. The two receptacles on the plug are controlled by the same plug and the same software app.
It works and there are not too many wifi plugs that work outdoors. I use it for the pool pump. It is very easy to setup. It is Alexa compatible and that is a bonus. In the winter I will likely use it for Christmas lighting.
It does not keep track of your consumption and that would have been a very good function for it to have. For some reason it found my extender on the far side of my house in the garage ( an absolute miracle) but not the main and powerful router which is only about 20 feet away through one wall.
As others have noted the individual sockets cannot be independently controlled.
So while good, it is not excellent.
There is basically no customer support. All you can do is send them an email. There is no telephone support, chat-line support or a user forum to see if anyone else has similar issues.
UPDATE: for whatever reason, the switch and app decided to start working and I managed to configure the switch.
Observation: programming is *really* primitive. There is no way of defining rules separate for a device. I.e. define a portfoilio of rules to which you can assign one or more devices and/or enable or disable the rule. You can only define (and thereby enable) a rule by adding it to a particular device.
Yo lo usé para programar una bomba de agua que se activaba en la madrugada.
- This is shipped as a SINGLE UNIT. I understand it has 2 outlets on it, but product is stated as "Size: 2 Pack". Not sure if this is by Amazon or the manufacturer, but I find this to be misleading wording.
-Other reason is poor wifi-receiver signal. Couldn't even get a signal where my phone still had 2 bars outside.
Other than these two issues though it is a cool product and works as advertised
People said that working with the WiOn app wasn't the best, but I got it hooked up just fine. Takes about 3-4 minutes to get activated on the app and your Wifi when you already have one previously added, not too bad at all. With this WiOn Plug, and my 3 Eco-Plugs, which appear to be the exact same (just different name), they all work together beautifully.
Setting the timer on them via the app is great, and is nice to have the Christmas lights come on automatically without failing. With 4 plugs with the dual receptacles, I'm running just over 17,000 LED's through 4 outdoor wall outlets. And this season has seen snow and rain, and no issues at all.
I bought my original Eco-Plugs for about $28-30 CDN, so I feel the price of $40+ CDN is a little pricey. But the quality is there and they work for my setup, so all good in my books.
You can see water droplets inside the unit on the LED opening.
Amazon doesn't allow me to return it, seller has no contact info. Cannot return.
