This book is simply a regurgitation of ideas postulated in other books. If you are well read, especially in the self help genre, this book is tired. It especially breaks down about halfway through when the reader is instructed to go out and get a mentor as if one can simply pick one up at the gas station. This mentor advice completely disregards the fact that a mentor would have to be a willing participant. Stick with the classics like The 7 Habits.
Of course I haven't finished this book because it takes a year to complete, but I find it very helpful in getting me to think deeply about how I feel about passion and how it affects my life. Each week there are "Weekly Action" questions that you answer in the companion workbook, which really helps you get to the "nitty gritty" of how you feel about subjects you may not have thought about otherwise. It is very thorough, such as: what are your core values, skills, aptitudes and talents, etc.--that's why I gave it 5 stars--and I am greatly looking forward to working on each week's chapter as I go throughout the year. If you enjoy really thinking, this book is for you.
As an empty nester, I was looking for a legitimate step by step process to discovering my life passion; I thought the 52 week format would fit the bill by allowing time to explore many options. I've just finished week ten and honestly don't feel one step closer to my goal than the day I started the work. This book feels more like psychotherapy, I'm finding that I despise reading the material; it's lacking substance, and feels like a waste of time. While I do appreciate some of the suggestions that come via Barrie Davenport's website, I can't help but think that the positive reviews of "The 52-Week Life Passion Project"

on amazon.com, come from fellow bloggers, not from those genuinely interested in pursuing the topic. The workbook

available for purchase as well, is nothing more than a vessel that repeats the weekly actions cited in the book, save your money, don't buy either one!
Only through the first chapter and I am already pleased. Prior to buying this e-book I read Peace of Mindfulness and loved the content. Thank you Barrie. I have a question, with the e-book, is it possible to have the workbook sent to me so I can use it to follow along this year?
I am an empty nester Mom and I have been searching for a book (for 5 and a half years) that would help me to discover my new passion and purpose in life. Look no further, this book is it. I think everyone should read it and everyone will definitely benefit from it. I've been stuck in a void, between my old life and what my new life will be. Barrie's book gave me clarity and narrowed down my passion choices into a workable process. She also gives you the resources for online tests which were extremely valuable and surprisingly accurate and I saw a pattern whereas before I was just confused about what to do. Barrie gives you insight, hope, inspiration and drive to make your passions come true. Shari K.
If you are searching for more meaning - be it a new career or to dig into what truly motivates you - this is a good book to help shape that challenge. The key find for me is to understand that nothing happens all at once. We must take a step each day toward what we want. Each move or contribution shapes the larger dream. This book can be enormously helpful to those just starting out.
New Year's is always a time of great intentions and resolutions. But sometimes it takes more than simply a resolution to open the door to the next step of your life. Barrie Davenport, coach and writer, has been helping people for years to find out what really makes them tick and how to get satisfaction and joy out of their work, their play, and their quiet time. Now, Barrie lays out - in 52 doable actions - the blueprint for a year of change and growth. None of this is impossible; Barrie's guidance is realistic and whole-hearted. These steps can lead to new revelations, new thoughts, and a new understanding of ourselves.
Since Barrie is, above all, empathetic and kind, this book is written in a way that makes you feel like you already know the author. She is just gripping you under the elbow to help you along, not preaching what you should do.
This year can be your year. You can finish it up in a very different, more satisfyingly joyous place than you're at right now. Let Barrie help you with her kind, loving, manageable steps. Happy New Year.
