Having looked around for new projects to do I've found one in particular where you can do moldings of a foot/hand with sand and plaster. Interested in this project I went to fetch the needed item though I wasn't able to find any plaster of paris around the craft stores around here. Wanting to really do the project I went on Amazon to try my luck and was happy when I was able to find it.
The mixing instruction is very easy. 2 parts plaster and 1 part water. It basically means if you use 2 cups of plaster you use 1 cup of water and that has worked well for my project. The plaster was already hardening in the mold in 10 minutes to where you can probably sculpt it with the proper tools if you were gentle enough. I hadn't been able to do any scraping or sculpting but the mold worked out perfectly and hardened fully in less than an hour, though it was only a small picture frame sized mold.
I would say to handle it with a bit of caution and not to be too rough on it or drop it since it can still break. It's not like glass or anything too brittle but if you're too rough or strong on it the plaster may snap or break.
