Please note: this set does not come with the battery or charger. I believe that it’s intended for those who have already bought into the EGO ecosystem. In my case, I use the 7.5AH EGO battery from my mower, which is a bit back-heavy, but has a ton of power.
The powerhead and edger attachment is well-made and has enough torque to blast through built-up sod. My older Ryobi gas trimmer used to bog down in similar conditions, so the EGO alternative is a real winner.
N.B. The quick disconnect is similar to, but NOT identical to the system used for the older Ryobi system. This isn’t a complaint, I’m just letting people know that the two systems are not compatible and don’t buy this thinking it’ll work.
I HIGHLY recommend buying the optional shoulder strap (which should have been included (hint, hint).
Overall, I’m impressed and very pleased with the product.
My string trimmer is two generation old and is not compatible with the edger attachment available. So, I purchased this Ego edger tool without the battery.
I can't say that I am ecstatic with the edging results, nor am I disappointed. I've used a gasoline powered edger in the past and the results I'm getting with the Ego edger are similar.
Up until now, I have been edging with the WORX WG 160 GT 2.0 20V PowerShare String Trimmer. The results I'm getting with the WORX trimmer are superior, when compared to those with the Ego edger; I am totally surprised.
If I didn't know better, I would be happy with the Ego results and leave it at that. But I'm so invested that I am willing to accept the average edging results.
Now this is part of a detachable system and I just ordered the tiller/cultivator. That will attach in place of the edger.
The EGO system is fantastic. I have the snowblower, lawnmower, blower, weed whip, emergency power unit..and now this! And no, I'm not being paid and I don't work for the company.
BTW, I also have the trimmer head and it is by far the best trimmer/edger I've ever owned. When my mower goes, I'm buying an EGO mower next.
