My 17yr old Craftsman LT1000 wasn't quite mulching the yard as it used too. Maybe it was the years of tree limbs that I had previously run over, or the summers of tall grass thrown into the neighbor's yard that were taking its toll on the old blades. I knew that replacements were in order when I took them off and they were thinner than my take home pay. So I read the reviews and figured that I would try these, since the price was right. I didn't get any strange noises when they were spinning like others were reporting, unless you count the me giggling like a little girl as I was running wide open in 6th gear with the deck height at #2 and cutting 3 weeks of overgrown lawn without any issues (hey, I had to rebuild the cutting deck, then get belts, and stuff. Don't judge.). Oh yes, let it be known that these blades are some cutting muthas! They transformed my life of a dull ride around the yard into something legends are made of. The neighbors came out to watch. It was amazing. Buy these and put them on your American made muscle mower. Transform your gas guzzling, grass mulching, sexy machine into the envy of your neighborhood.

To start with, i am not a landscaping dude. Just your average home owner that teaches at collage. OK enough of that on to the BLADE . I bought my YTH18542 Husqvarna tractor last year, use it all for about 5 months and stored it(SAD). At any rate , i contemplated on changing the blade, but do you change a 5 month old blade. Also let me tell you, i do not have any tree clumps, rocks just grass. To make a long story short, i dove into the blade land. Oh my, as you know the there are 100's if not thousands of blade out there, life gets very confusing very fast,
At any rate, in my opinion, if you are a weekend worrier like me do your homework about your tractor, i suggest YouTube. just an example, how dose your blade attaches to your tractor, some blades just have a hole in the center some have , what is called star, it look like a 5 pointed star, that is only kind of blade that my tractor takes, moral to story know your tractor. Go to the manufacturer web site and you can download the instruction, it usually its in a PDF format and study it.
Know the blade, i was fortunate to have 2 metal ramps and drove the tractor on it. You might see some suggestion for jacking up your tractor, That was not for me. I found that very dangerous, cause you gonna do a lots of pulling and twisting(NOT A GOOD IDEA BEING UNDER A TRACTOR LIFTED ON THE JACK) at least not for me. WEAR GLOVES, do not grab the blade without glove, just a thought.
Any way took the old OEM blades off and replace the wit the new ones(very proud of my self LOL) started up running like a dream, let me tell you what a difference, blades cut effortlessly and what is amazing the amount of grass you do not see. it mulches the grass so fine, you can barley see it LOVE IT. Nice job MAX POWER. well that's my recommendation, be safe have fun.

The blades are awesome! They fit as expected on my Craftsman DYT 4000. I have a bagger riding mower and with the previous regular blades the chute would clog up. With these, I have not had any issues whatsoever. Really impressed and the price for the set is the price of just 1 regular blade at my local hardware store. Mine arrived exactly as pictured, with the "teeth" on the flip-up side. First let me say that I have NEVER had good mulching action from any mower on my lawn. I spent nearly twice as much for ONE 21" Gator blade for my Snapper mower and it was the worst blade I've ever used.

These blades are excellent. I just brought my Craftsman lawn tractor back home, having used it at the airport since 2004 or so. My lawn now looks like I hired a lawn service. The first time I used these blades I had to side discharge because I had misplaced the mulching cover. The sound was more aggressive and the cut was clearly better than the regular Sears blades I've always used. Old blades weren't dull - these are just much better.

I just cut for the first time with the mulching cover in place and the lawn is beautiful. I cut about 3" off the grass (yes, I know you're not supposed to cut more than 2", but it's only been 5 days). Grass isn't damp but it's morning and very humid, having rained yesterday. Not a single indication of clumping anywhere. The tiny bit of cut grass that escaped onto the sidewalk and driveway was definitely cut into shorter pieces. WIth any other mower, or even this mower and the original Sears blades, I'd have clumps.

We have a little over half an acre of North Alabama suburban yard wooded with willow oak, river oak, pecan, sweet gum, and redbud. I do not use a grass catcher and have been mulching the fallen leaves rather than raking or paying for raking for about seven years now. I hate raking about as much as anything. The grass likes the fall leaf mulch. My first 42" cut Craftsman yard tractor was new in 1999. I retired it in 2014. We now use my wife's newer 42" cut Craftsman tractor. Up until I tried these blades today (12/14/2017) I had tried nearly every mulching blade out there. They all mulched leaves poorly, cut grass okay, but they did not last well at all. These Maxpower blades are far thicker steel, much wider, and they mulch leaves much, much better. The added weight creates noticably more flywheel effect too, so the cut revs are more constant. I will definitely be ordering these when the time comes to replace blades. Highly recommended!

Excellent product. Balanced and sharpened out of the box. 50% thicker than my previous Craftsman OEM blades - this gives the spinning blades more kinetic energy and makes quick work of problem areas (ie long grass and weed). Mulching action also makes markably smaller pieces, an asset for composting.

Replacing brand blades on a 42" Husqvarna. The blades are definitely more robust than the OEM. When engaging the blades, they take a bit longer to spin up, but once they are going, they perform much better than the OEM ever did.
