After the author’s 10-year time of sharing her home with happy, married, family men in the “crash pad” for pilots, she learns that men can be great friends and can share many valuable life experiences. Patricia takes this time seriously and holds it in her heart. Once the online dating begins, so do the crazy experiences. She makes lists of the things that aren’t quite right and uses them as gauge to either hang around or flee!
Respectfulness, considerate behavior, and what our mamas always taught us that “cleanliness is next to Godliness,” (not to mention controlling your bad mannered pets) are on the list for possible date #2 chances.
Her message to the reader is that only after we learn who we truly are can we know what we truly need. Patricia Lorenz tells it like it is (or was in her many trials) and tells us her sometimes heart breaking journey to where she is today…with that Mr. Right that meets her current needs for a happy, healthy, interesting, and fun-loving relationship.
Patricia spent most of her life as a single mom trying to support her family. Husbands #1 and #2 just didn't work out. But along the way she discovered a career as a writer and speaker, and her independent spirit is not going to step aside for any man. You can learn from her mistakes, you can laugh with her along the way, and when you read her book, you'll feel like you've gained a new friend.
The story takes us through lessons learned about dating, love, marriage, breakups, heartaches and joy with lots of advice on those tricky online match-up experiences - what to look for and what to avoid. It is pleasantly disarming to have someone share what are all-too-familiar bumps (and grinds?) along the way and how the author managed them in her adventures through the decades.
Lorenz brings her lovely writing style to a look-back on her own experiences and how optimism, self-respect and determination are the keys to finding all the companionship one needs, with family, friends, lovers, and even room and boarders!
