These are a great size for the crafts I'm doing. The thickness is substantial without being clunky. I finish the edges where the bark is with mat decopauge to better preserve the bark. This isn't do to a flaw in the cutting/creatingoh the cut pieces, but a natural aspect of the bark. The slices have imperfections as is to be expected from natural items and are to be enjoyed as these are natural wood slices. I'm doing some with natural wood showing and some I will paint to create the images I want. If you use press on transfers on bare wood, expect slight rustic imperfections in the transfer. I seal the raw wood with mat decopauge medium to help minimize imperfections while showing the natural wood. This preserves the texture while allowing decorattion to be applied easily. These are versatile and functional pieces that can be decorated for any holiday or as lovely rustic or cottage style decorations to be used year round. These are great for craft use and a good value for the money.

Moisture Cracking Like Crazy
They're cheap which is great. The bark on the outside is really thin and wispy but it's enough to still look like a proper wood slice and it's enough for me to be happy with. My beef is that as soon as they are in the presence of moisture - paint, water, a room with plants, a bathroom, etc - they crack. Like, BIG cracks. Thankfully this comes with a lot of slices because some became unusable after the giant cracks in them. As I added paint to a few, they started cracking on the table within minutes. It was terrifying. Imagine surprise firecracker sounds right in front of you. A few I put in a bathroom to do things with later and the next day I went to put them up on the wall and one had such a huge crack in it that I couldn't use it anymore. If you want to add any additional holes to them I would imagine they'd crack too hard. In some circumstances they're probably perfect and amazing but for me, I'm hesitant to use them for certain projects knowing that they might implode in the near future.

They're great for wood burning. I enjoyed creating ornaments with them. I purchased a different string/twine that was more Christmas themes (red, green, and white instead of the red/orange it comes with).
I think the main issue I had occurred because of my choices. I was in a hurry and used a spray on sealant rather than the normal polycrylic I use. They cracked partially. When I tried to crack them further, no further damage occurred. Only some of them cracked. I'm assuming these were ones coated too thickly with sealant.
Ones I haven't sealed have not cracked. They have been subjected to the same temperatures as those which have been sealed.
While I am mostly certain it was my fault they cracked, I am still giving 4 stars as cracking shouldn't occur. I used the same spray sealant on a different brand of rounds (more expensive, same thickness and size) and they didn't crack.
