The title 60 Quick Knits would normally, turn me away. When I think of a quick knit, I'm thinking of something thick and bulky and I'm not into that. Thank Goodness Cascade 220 is also mentioned in the title. While Cascade is a great workhorse worsted weight yarn, the key to all these great knits is worsted weight yarn. You can use worsted weight and knock out all of these designs, reduce your stash and buy more yarn. The photographs are crisp, clear, concise; easy through experienced, written out and charted (if need be). Paperback helps make it a value, but since it is such a keeper and a book I'll use repeatedly, I would have loved a hardcover edition. In any case, there is nothing NOT to like about this treasure! Do you need this book in your knitting library? You certainly do.
The book seems evenly divided between Intermediate and Easy patterns, with one or two Experienced patterns thrown in, but none of them appear to be all that difficult. There are also some really cute and different projects for young children. Timid or beginning knitters need not retreat. Remember, most yarn shops will be willing to help you if you purchase your materials from them, but I've found that yarn shops ANYWHERE will offer to help just because the sorority of knitters is such a wonderful group and we're all so proud and enthusiastic about our hobby.
I don't know whether to begin with the "Zigzag Scarf" in a nice tweed yarn for my son, or the "Smocked Fingerless Mitts" with their cute button trim, or the adorable "Puppy Mittens" for a young child....but I know I'm giving a copy of this book to each of my daughters-in-law for Christmas.
finally got ready to make a hat. Decided to check if there are any corrections. Googled and found many many errors. 13 patterns had errors that had to be corrected. Just took 30 min or so to update all the patterns. So be careful if you have the book and be sure you check pattern out before you knit. I also think there is a new error in the garter ridged hat.
