Patrick has created an easy way for anyone to approach fitness regardless of age or body type. The book can be taken in all at once or digested in chunks as you go through it. As a 40 something I find the book to be a great tool for achieving my fitness goals. If you want to change your fitness level Patrick has created the plan now I just need to follow it one minute at a time.
I am surprised this book does not have more reviews- it is excellent. I originally checked it out at the library and loved it so much, I purchased it on Amazon. This is a concise and clear exercise book if you are looking for high quality circuit/weight training with little to no equipment. Whether you have access to a full service gym or just a few weights or bands while traveling, this is the book for you. Mr. Striet spends a few pages discussing how and why this method works (primarily HIIT and metabolic resistance) and then explains in painstaking detail which exercises to do and how. More than half of the book explains how to do the exercises safely and correctly with pictures and form (everything from push-ups to goblet squats!). What I enjoyed the most was the clear schedule - "do this 2x/week or that 3x/week" / "take no more than 15 sec. between sets". I have spent decades working out from books, trainers and more. I can best compare this book to having a trainer by your side without the $100/hr price tag. He does not spend much time on nutrition (thank you!) but provides some insight on what can or will not work (too much variety = too many calories!). If he had spent a lot of time on nutrition, I think it would have taken away from the book as there are so many competing opinions on what to eat, etc. I cannot say enough how much I recommend this book if you are looking for a well detailed and scheduled HIIT/metabolic resistance workout.
