How does a K&N High Flow Intake System increase horsepower? By eliminating airflow obstruction in your engine. Restriction of air flow between an air filter and an engine robs even the most powerful engine of horsepower. K&N air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the standard air filter and the entire air path to the engine. This begins with an oversized conical high-flow air filter. This larger filter fits into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points because it replaces your stock intake tube, and air box. This provides more airflow at lower restriction than a standard filter. The oversize air filter also captures and holds more dirt, increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is also isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower. The filter attaches to an intake tube that reduces turbulence and accelerates airflow into the engine. Finally, the tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicon and reinforced nylon and ensures long life. Put all this together and you have the best high-flow intake system available today.

Lousy quality control!
It took me about 45 minutes to install. It would have been faster, but it seems that Nissan put a bigger throttle body on the 2014 model year as well as added some things to attach to the airbox so I had to reuse parts from the stock airbox to get it installed correctly.
My one real complaint about the unit itself is that it flexes way too much. On bumps the cone filter hits the frame bracket behind the headlight and has a little dent in it because of that. I have tried to reconfigure to make this not happen, but it really likes to be where it is so I will just have to deal with that. I may make a bracket to attach it to the bracket on top of the motor that the factory airbox mounted to so that it can't flex toward the bracket denting the filter. In my opinion this should have been done by KN in the molding process so I won't have to use hose clamps to attach a mounting bracket to the unit as their silicone couplers are what is allowing the flex.
Towing with it I do feel a difference. Also, you can hear the air sucking in at RPMs above 2500 and it sounds like a large turbo.
However, the final result is awesome. I can hear the filter sucking in the air and the gear transitions are much smoother.
