I installed the battery and it showed 0 cycles. I fully charged it overnight, and over the next week or so made sure to fully deplete it and follow the Apple recommended calibration procedures. It showed 99-100% battery health.
Three months in, the battery is dying without warning when it shows ~30 min or 12-14% battery remaining. It is now showing 70% health and a "Service Battery" warning. I had just recalibrate the battery two days ago, and the health was showing 87%. I have gotten some excellent battery life (7+ hours) like I used to when my 2012 MacBook Pro Retina was new, but it seems to have a real problem with the circuitry or communication with the operating system.
It is really unfortunate that Apple makes their computers so difficult to repair yet I will likely opt for the latest MBP because my computer worked flawlessly and tirelessly for the first 5 years until I made the decision to swap in this battery.
Update: The battery health is decreasing everyday. It is now around 45%. Actually battery life is a few hours, but the defective nature and OS warnings should not accompany a new battery.
Edit: Customer service contact me within 24 hours saying they would like to resend a battery out. A+ customer service, will update stars once new battery comes in.
Update - customer service reached out to me and is shipping out a replacement - very proactive and great service, will update again when the battery is installed.
On first item - Installed battery but would not charge. Computer showed "replace now" and battery % remained at 0.
