not bad, but connector has wrong orientation, it is upside down...

It has only one issue, but it is so frustrating for me that I took out two starts for this issue. Problem is that cable's one side is upside down relative to other side, if you are used to connect to computer something without this cable, say a USB Stick, and you are used it's original orientation, then when starting to use this cable and trying to connect the same thing using this cable, you will have to connect it now upside down, compared to how you would connect it to the computer directly. The cable itself is pretty short, between connectors it is shorter than my middle finger, and as you can imagine such a short cable do not twist around easily, so it preserves original orientations of connectors and it is mistake of manufacturer that they have not considered these factors. Ideally it should allow to connect things in the same orientation, as if you connecting the thing to the computer directly, but because of the design flaw it requires to connect things upside down. Maybe long cables of this type do not need to consider this as long cable can be twisted around and you can easily hold other end in any way you want, but for this kind of short cable orientation of connectors on either end matters very much.

Highly recommended if you have a thumbdrive or security dongle that plugs rigidly into your USB port. Otherwise, with one inadvertent gesture or moving the computer, and your device and/or the port could be toast. Plug the device into this instead, and you've got an extra margin of safety. Should be standard procedure.

I bought this short extender to use with my Raspberry Pi 3. It can also be used with a computer or Smart TV. Note that this is a USB 2.0 model. It you have a USB 3.0 port, and you need the faster throughput of USB 3.0, you should get a different model. Why did I get this? Manufacturers often place USB ports too close together, so that you can't use neighboring ports. This short extension solves that. However, this can also be used if you frequently plug and unplug things into a port, to keep the computer / Smart TV port in good condition. Although I bought this for my Raspberry Pi (with close ports), I'm actually using it now with my Smart TV (where I often swap out USB sticks or hard disks). The cable is short and very well-made. I'll probably buy a few more with my next Amazon order. They are very handy!

Absolutely perfect. I bought these to use with FLIRC, so I can program my universal remote control to operate my Amazon Fire TV, which does not support infrared. FLIRC takes infrared and converts it to keyboard controls, so it tricks the Fire TV into thinking you have a keyboard plugged in. Because the USB port was at the back, this six inch cable let's me mount my FLIRC to the top of the Fire TV instead. Because it's such a small cable, I stuck a little tiny piece of two sided tape, so I could keep it attached to the Fire TV, otherwise the tension of the cable caused it to lift up a bit, a cosmetic-only problem.

If you're looking to move a USB plug, but just a few inches, this is a great product, and incredible affordable. I bought a couple of extra to through in my gear back when I travel for work. I often need to install things via USB, and sometimes my flash drive is thick enough to bump up against an adjacent cable on the back of a customer's server. This is also useful to alleviate that problem.

This is a 6-inch extension cable for USB 2.0 devices, which I bought because one of my cables was just a tad too short but I didn't want a ton of excess cable; this fit that bill nicely. I'm sure a more common application is connecting things like USB flash drives or larger devices that don't have a cable and might block adjacent ports on some computers.

As with any extension cable, one end of this is male (the end you connect to a computer) and the other is female (the end you plug the device/cable into). Most USB extension cables I've seen have the female end enclosed in plastic, but as you can see from the pictures of this cable, the female end is *not* enclosed, so you just have the bare metal outer part showing. This was actually desirable for me and is one of the reasons I chose this cable--it needed to fit inside my CordMate II, and I couldn't find an enclosed end that would fit. This one worked nicely for that. If you are just running extending a USB cable for normal purposes, this shouldn't matter--though you may actually wish to get one that *is* enclosed since it's less susceptible to damange. I actually had to return the first one of these I got to Amazon for a replacement because the female end was smashed in a bit and damaged.

One final note: as I write this, Amazon's picture is beige. My cable was actually black. It didn't matter for me, but if that's important to you, keep that in mind.

All in all, I've had no problems with this cable so far (after getting the damaged one replaced, of course), so I'd recommend if if you have a specific need for a 6-inch USB extension cable. There are certainly longer ones if you need those (be aware of maximum length restrictions, though: about 10-16 ft from device to port unless you use active repeaters or hubs), but this one works fine for what it is.

My son has an adapter for the Xbox to use a keyboard and mouse but pulled it wrong, breaking off the adapter portion that plugs into a device. I fit it back together and it works, but you can’t unplug it without it pulling apart. I bought this cheap, plugged the keyboard adapter in and electrical taped them together so it can’t ever be pulled apart. Now he just unplugs this extension and he’s had zero issues. It’s short but I wanted it short to match the original adapters size. Better than a $120 replacement for the Xbox adapter.

I’m no expert on wires, I was really confused when I can to look for an usb extension lead. There’s so many.

I only wanted them to extend current usb wires for devices for charging.

I originally ordered others, but the wires were extremely thick, which wasn’t what I wanted especially for travelling.

I understand the basics of using them for data transfer and why you’d need a different kind.

But, for simply extending your current leads for charging devices, these are perfect.

They are as thick as a normal usb cable and the 2meters is perfect especially when travelling and you can’t get close to a plug.

I tested my iPhone, iPad, ecig, toothbrush, portable speaker etc and all charged perfectly fine in the Normal time.

Extremely pleased with these.

I’ve a very long hospital stay next week and won’t be mobile for some time. These will be perfect.

Ps. Each end has a thin layer of film wrapped around them. Do ensure you remove them for fire safety. They are not noticeable.

I also tested using other devices on both laptops and computers. And also tested to charge devices. Charging devices takes a while, perhaps because it is 2.0 even though I put the original cable connected to it. And even using USB 3.0 chargers plugged into the wall sockets and it plugged into them. So to recharge devices it takes a while, but for what was specified is great

Hard to know how many stars to give something that is so basic. I mean at the end of the day, it either works or not. This works. I've been looking for a good, white extension cable for a while, and finally came across this one. Although it costs a bit extra compared to the many black options (seriously, why are almost all USB cables black?), it is a lot less obtrusive when running along a neutrally coloured wall.

At first I was concerned that the thin cable wouldn't be very high quality, however I've had no issues with stability at all, and both connectors fit snugly. The female connector is also nice and compact, without feeling flimsy, which helps to keep this cable nice and discreet.

So if you're like me and hate running black, obvious cables everywhere, then I think this is worth paying the extra price for, I only wish there were a 4m version, as 3m is only just long enough.

A useful accessory

On some PCs, USB sockets can be in a recessed area and if used for something small - Logitech's Unifying Receiver is a perfect example - they can be difficult to insert and remove and be easily dropped or lost. This cable is short enough not to be a nuisance and substantial enough to be handled more than once or twice without any likelihood of damage.

I have longer extension cables that I use when I need one to stretch more than the 1.5-2 metres usually available but this is not really intended for that type of task. Used with dongles, memory sticks and the like, they have a function and were often routinely supplied in the past (USB 1 only).

Decent quality and work as expected

Got three of these so as to be able to use and re-charge tablet at the same time, plus make access to USB ports at back of desktop PC easier to use.

The USB cable Samsung provide with their kit (Galaxy Note 10.1 2014, purchased from John Lewis for £369 before Xmas) is a ridiculously short 1m. It's OK for connecting to a PC but makes the provided mains charger almost useless.

These cables allow you to extend that short cable so it can be charged and used while sitting on the couch or laying in bed.

Also having this extension cable provides a natural break point if you should pull on the cable, the cables will just unplug and not damage anything.

REF: Quality looks good and they appear (I've not cut one open) to be made of multi-strand wires, so they are more flexible and should be less prone to failure than cheap cables made with single strand wires.
